As I told Apoc earlier, too much Ralph Bakshi, not enough Clive Barker. Attachment: The infantry don't look like terrible things done to human flesh, just guys in space suits. Shit, German Steam Punk space suits at that. Needs esoteric gribblies, tubes, and other general creepiness. If they're willing to do this to themselves then just imagine what horrifying things they'd be willing to do to those menials they treat as raw materials? Attachment: Attachment: Good thing that there's no standardization in the mechanicum, every army is a unique thing crafted to their masters vision so I can politely ignore all this and keep my horrifying horse headed freaks. |

The screwy sentinel seems fun. Same with the Rangers, but not sure about vanguard. Reminds me too much of Solar Aux from FW and I don't like that style. As for the unholy mating of a defiler and sentinel... meh. |

Bearing in mind how incredibly bland most of the GW releases have been for a while - I thought these were really great. |

Yeah, they seem to have abandoned the inspired bio mechanical horror of 1980s Blanche - giger meets Gilliam ? - for a fairly generic steam punk look for all their Mechanicus stuff now. To be honest they have robbed all the best motifs form the early images for the iron hands, (techmarines/servitors in general) dark Eldar and necrons (hence why it's been so easy to kit bash ad mech.) To make the ad mech distinctive nowadays I suppose they need to go somewhere new. I guess there is a big market for steam punk - probably going after those those leaving to war machine et al - but I am disappoint. |

Aye Vaaish has it right, they look an awful lot like the Solar Aux which all things considered, these would be cheap (well for GW standards) to buy in to. Xenocidial Maniac mentioned to me that these are a good basis to kitbash Arbites with. I'm seeing some necromundia in stor perhaps. The thing that is crazy is the 30k Mechanicum stuff has enough of the body horror Blanche look to it to at least give the right vibe. They're not bad models, just not what I'm looking for =/ |

There are some nice fresh biomech horrors here: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/New_Stuff/S ... ENANT.html The walkers are creepy in a sneaks up on you way - it took me a moment to spot the embedded human... But the Skitarii are bland, right enough. Where are the Leopard skins, I ask? |
