I'd recommend it for scenario play rather than games using the tournament scenario.

Nah there's nothing wrong with using it as an actual pod.

Require an Ad Mech ship to launch it from, and charge, I dunno, 25% of the cost of the Titan for the pod itself, and have some fun.

I'd say 25% is probably a bit steep.

The "Tellyporta" in the OGBM is definitely not worth 25%. It's actually free, even though it's offset by the cost of the Ork spacecraft, which is generally pants aside from that ability. In any case, it comes out about 15% so I'd start it at more like 15% and see what happens.

I'd be inclined to design a scenario around it's use. Unlike Marines which can spring out of a drop prod ready for killing seconds after it lands I'd imagine a titan would need to be heavily secured and likely inactive while dropping and then it would take a while to warm it up and release it (ideally something that would normally happen a long way away from the enemy but acidents/ambushes happen). Perhaps the scenario could have a reserves roll starting from the second turn on a 4+ to see whether it can activate, with a +1 to the roll for each subsequent turn. You could even possibly make up some kind of rules for the enemy to attack the pod and damage the titan inside (perhaps on a critical).

Sorry. I did not want to discourage the use as a titan drop ship. I think this is a cool idea :)
I posted because the first picture that came to my mind after reading about droppods and epic was a giant wreckage piece of a starship. So, thank you for that inspiration :)

To the titan drop pod. I too think that it would fit into a scenario very well where one army attacks the drop pod and tries to destroy it before the podded titan can activate an annihilate the attacking army. The AdMech (Or IG or Marines) are desperately defending. Might make a tense scenario.

Or multiple Titan Drop Pods? Like a wave of Titans coming to the aid of a ...uhh I don't know maybe a Agri-World that mainly feeds a near by Forge world? So have drop right into the heat of battle against....Hmm maybe so Orks with lots of Gargants? Maybe a "Big Mob" of them? What do you think E&C? Might just find someplace to put said scenario in print somewhere? ::) ;) :D

Actually, there's a bit of apocryphal background about titans drop podding into hot zones. The pod encases the body of the titan up to the carapace. They planetfall head down, with the shields on to protect against normal reentry issues. Once near the ground, rockets fire to invert the pod and slow it. They blow open on impact, allowing the titan to come out guns blazing.

Now, I can't recall exactly where this all comes from. For some reason I think it was a conceptual discussion with Jervis.

Drop podding Titans were featured in the Horus Heresy book series.

An Imperator and two Warlord Titans (IIRC) drop on a planet along with some Marines for a shock-and-awe battle against some traitors.

Maybe say they start 4 shields down (so none for reavers, 2 for warlords) to account for the re-entry energy they have had to absorb, they come back up int he normal manner of course.

IIRC it was the 3rd book...."Galaxy In Flames" Showing the the Istvaan III trachery. Or might be in "Fulgrim" during Istvaan V Battle.

It wasn't Fulgrim. It was either the 2nd or 3rd book.

It was the Imperator in the Istvaan III drop site massacre that is dropped into the LZ.
