beeen toying with the skittari list, and it seems the obvious thing to use ordinatus for is long range pummelling.

but there's options for CCW! firefight weaponry and really wacky stuff like the landing pad or corvus assualt torpedo.

Anybody experimented with any of these?

the landing pad makes sense for a minorus company, 1 would have the landing pad providing the other two with indirect fire options (for example with quake cannons :) )

Yeah, for a big artillery battery, 3 minorii with Quakes or Apocalypse Launchers and one with a CLP looks nice. Corvus Pods just make expensive, Void Shielded Gorgons. Gatling Blasters look like they'd be a jack of all trades style ordinatus, and then you can take Volcano Cannons or Plasma Blastguns for SHT proxies.

Well, I'm building mine with two quake cannons and one with a landing pad. Makes for great artillery that feels pretty fluffy in the Skitarii list. I'm going to try to magnetize the CLP one so I can swap it out with lesser weapons if I want to have an ordinatus along side my infantry and not take the quake cannon.

I like the idea of the carapace landing pad minoris being available as an addition to a mars majoris, 10BP, ignores cover, disrupt, indirect fire makes me feel all tingly

it was your minoris that prompted me to ask Vaaish.

the idea of a CC ordinatus has got me very puzzled (in a good way). what would one look like?

orky :D

actually i could see one use as a breaching weapon, maybe a hydraulic ram or giant drill...

I've been playing around with the idea of CCW Minoris, but you either end up orky as KivArn says, or Squat-esque if you go the breachin weapon style, in my experience at least. I'm working purely from a modelling perspective - no idea on the game effectiveness of them yet!

there are 5 of those things in existence - used in the Rhineland Coal mining I believe.

probably up to Majoris level with that though.

Heh. I saw that picture on NASA's APOD site a little while ago, and immediately thought "Ordinatus"!

I even drew up a statline and a scenario, trying to lure some of the accomplished scratchbuilders out of the woodwork:

No luck so far; I may eventually have to do it myself :)

Here's proof that the giant mining machine would make a good CC ordinatus... as it once ate a Bulldozer!

Ouch! I wonder what the guy in the dozer was thinking when he got "picked up"...

Any idea how fast that wheel turns?

I dunno - the size makes it misleadingly slow looking. I doubt any of us would volunteer to run through the teeth. :)
