I'm curious though, is that actually an official unit or one we are just making up? I'd shy away from the concept of making up unit X until all other routes are exhausted. My thoughts are that the list can be effectively distanced from IG by the type of armored units that are promoted. IE, remove chimeras for Rhinos, limit the availability of Russ and Artillery, and superheavies to put emphasis on titans, macharius, and ordinatus. Get those right and you'll see a rather different play style and structure than the typical IG list.

Entirely made up on my part, I've just been reading a few black library novels and took inspiaration from them. I'm not even saying that the stats are correct or thats there's even a need for them. It was just a thought I wanted to share. Additionaly I think that it ties in with something which I beleieve E&C may have said at some point which was that the core of the army should be infantry based.

Regarding vehicle types, I'm pretty much for at least some of the standard IG type vehicles but looking back over this topic there definitiely seems to be two schools of thought on that.

I think I can speak for E&C in saying that he's not interested in making new unit types up for this list.

I've been thinking about using a ton of mechwarrior dark age duel tracked vehicles for my Minorii and possible Majoris. just clip off certain things i do not want, or turret swap, some kit bashing and Poof. Minoris/Majoris. i measured a "marksmen" and its about two and a leman russ's in length. Not exactly the girder/tracks and gun idea but it will work for me.
I do agree with using the minoris for most artillary work, or even a slow, meat pounder with a chain saw on it instead of using guard vehichles, but untill that happens i'll use my 6 old bombards after their given a fresh coat of red paint and ink. I also like having the idea of having rhino's but maby with a stat change somewhere like 5+ fire fight, or 4+ armor(non reinforced). Just to show that they have the better version that they are not sharing. just idea's that i've been thinking about while reading this forum today.
I also like the idea of a formation of Apoc rocket launchers with one minoris having a free landing pad. that would get rid of the need for manticores though you would lose the range and the disrupt ability. Like i said,.. just ideas.

Also,, do AM paint their vehicles any color other than red or would that be heretical.

I also like the idea of Rhinos for Skittarii but I think, that it should be normal Rhinos. Would this be ok? Is there anything in the fluff considering the transportation of Skittarii apart from Corvus Pods and Gorgons?

In titanicus by dan abbnet each legion has organic skittari support that keep up with/ advance far ahead of the titans using only their own feet(or tracks or scutting legs etc)

Sure, that's not really hard to do tho. Warlord 15cm, Reaver 20cm. Inf have 15cm, so depending on the action they can easily keep up or past the slower Titans.

I was just saying there infantry support doesn't need transport to keep up apcs were invented so infantry can keep up with tanks. They don't Need to aquire transport that urgently to keep all those rhinos on the shelf for their pdf. When they are needed to equip space marines.

I see your point. However I feel that in a PDF setting they would or could use what was available including but not limited too Rhinos, Chimeras, Gorgons etc. I'm sure the AM keeps enough of the good stuff around for themselves before they start sending stuff out to the SM's. I would like to see either all transport options in this list and/or have chimera's for the PDF list and Rhino's for a Expedition list. However I'm not sure when or ever such a list might come to be.

Not sure what difference there might be between a PDF list and Expedition list and still keep it enough un-guard like. To me an Expedition list would have maybe Land Raiders, Leman Russes, SHT and Titans with some Skittles. Maybe a nice mix of all Imperial Armour and Flyers with Titans? I'm sure E&C has given it some thought no? *Pokes E&C*

As regards Rhinos, they are light transports for airbourne forces.
For land based forces the Chimera has considerably greater firepower.
So I don't think the Mechanicus would view the Rhino as the transport of choice for the Skitarii.

Land Raiders are exclusively restricted to the Marines and the Inquisiton by order of the Emperor. Mechanicus forces using them risk Inquisitorial sanction.

Better to focus on iconic units, than all of those that might potentially be used.

Fair point E & C. I then will get some Chimeras for my Skittarii.

As you mention iconic units...what about the AA ordinatus? Had some thoughts on this?

Still undecided. Likewise Hydra-equipped Macharius.

The Stormlord.

Best left for another list I think.
