This will probably take me several posts but I'll get started now.

Battlefield:

4 X 6 Tournament level terrain.

Deployment:

Imperial Guard garrsoned Infantry Cos. 1 & 2.

Tyranids did not garrison.

The balance of the deployment is as shown:

Turn 1:

No Teleports

Strategy Roll: IG

The Deathstrikes strike first by firing at Hydraphant #1 and are now thinking about going home after all "we've done our job, right?".

Oouch, that's gotta hurt.

Not so much, the Deathstrikes only did 4 damage despite hitting with both missiles. No criticals. Better luck next game.

The Greater Synapse Node yawns to life after hearing a scream from the Hydraphant and finds it best just to Hold.

The Sentinels think about going on OW but were distracted by the missiles flying overhead and regroup instead to remove the BM of shame.

Hydraphant #1 is now very irritated and Double Moves in the direction the missiles came from and finds Infantry Co. #1 and breathes on it killing 1 Ogryn and a Guard Stand.

Infantry Co. #1 now realize the seriousness of the situation and attempt to sustain fire at the charging Hydraphant but fail. They accept the BM of shame and decide they still need to shoot at the beast. They inflict 3 hits but do no damage. However, they have now driven the beast Mindless.

Tyranid Assault Group #2 now Double Moves up to take cover in the buildings.

The IG Hyda Battery Advances on the Hydraphant gets 3 hits but does no damage.

Tyranid Assault Group #1 Marches up into the trees until they discover a Sentinel ZOC are are frozen in terror.

Infantry Co. #2 sees this and sustains fire at Tyranid Assault Group #1 getting 5 hits and killing 3 Termies and 2 Raveners. (The lone Sentinel cries out "I told you I was bad")

*laugh*  You guys really seem to have a defective batch of Deathstrikes... or should they be LightWoundStrikes.

I think I would've tried to pop the GSN with one missile and saved the other for later if possible, but it is nice when a big war engine goes down right away... but not this time.  *laugh*

The lone Sentinel now wets himself as he sees a second Hydraphant Charge up beside his cousin to see if he can help.

The Warhound sensing the tension in the air Advances and fires on Hydraphant #1 getting 2 MW hits and killing the beast. (He mutters to himself "Who's bad now?")

The Tyranid Attack Group is directed by the Hive mind to the area where the pain is occurring. The Attack Group doubles and fires on the Warhound getting 3 hits, taking down the shields and doing one point of damage.

The Leman Russ Co. Double Moves up the road utilitzing the good road to get close to Tyranid Assault Group #2. Despite all the effort only scores 3 hits killing 2 Termies. (pathetic)

Since the Nids are out of activations, the IG will have their way with them.

Storm Troopers #2 Double Move and fire on Assault Group #2 getting 6 hits and killing 1 Termagaunt and 2 Raveners. (They brag to the tankers, "that's how it's done")

Storm Troopers #1 also Double Move and fire on Assault Group #2 getting only 2 hits and 0 kills. (Troopers #2 are left wondering why they aren't called Troopers #1)

Finally the Thunderbolts show their prowess as they Ground Attack the Nid Assault Group #2 getting 1 hit and killing a Tyranid Warrior.

End of Turn:

All IG formations rally. Infantry Co. #1 still has 1 BM.

GSN spawns 1 Ravener and 4 Termagaunts.

Assault Group #! spawns 1 Ravener and 2 Termagaunts.

Assault Group #2 didn't attempt to spawn due to being 1 over Synapse control after the loss of the Tyranid Warrior.

Attack Group spawns 2 Raveners.

The following pic is as things looked at the end of turn 1.

Strategy Roll: Tyranids

Assault Group #2 now surrounded lashes out and Assaults Storm Troopers #2. AG#2 gets 8 hits but the stubborn Troopers only take 4 casualties, while AG#2 loses 3 Raveners. AG#2 wins the assault and hacks down an additional Trooper as they make for the Valkyrie and withdraw.

Hydraphant #2 can wait no longer. With a scream it makes an Assault charge on Infantry Co. #1 in the trees. In its excitement and hunger it barges right through the middle of the formation and almost runs past them. But it has enough of them in its claws to make a good meal. The Hydraphant scores 4 regular hits and a TKd3 hit which makes sausage out of an Ogryn. It kills 1 Ogryn, 2 Fire support and 2 Guard stands while taking only 1 damage itself. The Hydraphant wins the assault and makes desert out of 2 more Guard stands.
