If the old Tyranid models ever do find their way to being re-released there are a lot of options available to Bio-Titans that aren't in the list.

I thought I'd take a look at some of the weapons and try to put together some "mutable" Bio-Titans with some variant weapons load-outs.  Currently, I think these would be at the same point cost of current Bio-titans, but they may need tweaking.

I've included the Dominatrix as well, please take a look and comment!

With that much choice, the costs most likely need to upgraded.

The beauty of a WIP list....

I love it :)

Of course other races should have more fun available in their weapon options too...

But Tyranids evolve man, unlike the stodgy Imperium... heck Eldar and Orks get cool options on their Titan-class war engines already... let's go eat them next!   :alien:

Ok can someone remind me which weapon piece was which out of the first 3 options?
Ie what they look like in comparison to each other.

Also on relative strengths  - the cluster spines and bile launcher look a bit weak compared to the other options.

I wouldn't have a mutable Dominatrix (Because the model isn't mutable).

Other than that I'm cool with the idea in principle.

The list is supposed to be a "tooth and claw" army.

In the past the Nid list had "bug creep" with multiple revisions adding larger and ever-more-elaborate bugs.  The list doesn't need bigger, more expensive bugs.  Nor does it need lots of weapon variety.  It needs solid biotitans that are essentially scaled up gaunts.

I think focusing on a "biomorph" approach in general is a bad idea.  Specialization of roles at Epic level should be based on different genuses rather than multiple variants of each genus.  Biotitans are Nid TK weapons.  That's what they were evolved to combat according to all the background I've read.  They are not supposed to be multi-purpose weapon platforms like the titans of other races and I think that adding a large number of variants dectracts from their style.

The "you never know what you get from a Nid" background material can still be abstracted into general stat lines in epic - better CC or FF or whatever - just like, for example,  the plethora of Ork vehicle modifications are abstracted into the Warbuggy stats.

Wisdom from on high, thanks for the insight, Neal!

Despite my enjoyment of the topic, I'm going to lock this thread so it doesn't distract us from the core Tyranid list.  Maybe the idea can be resurrected later.

Anyone who'd like to discuss the topic off-board can feel free to email/PM me.
