Hierodules are another point of contention.

In the Imperial Armour books, both types of Hierodules are noted as being fearless, but is that too good for EPIC scale?

If they are to be fearless, what's a good point value for them with their current stats?

If you feel they shouldn't be fearless, could you explain why not?

I have a hard time rationalizing these big beasties just keeling over or scattering when they lose an assault, especially when a Carnifex is fearless already.

In most games, my Hierodules die before they get to assault or they die during the actual engage as they're almost always toe-to-claw with the enemy.

Other thoughts and experiences?

I can't comment yet, I need to try them out in games with the new stats. However, my gut feeling is that they should be fearless, and some other beasties like carnis shouldn't be (esp at 35 points).

Edit - oops got confused with Hierophants, - no I don't think these should be fearless.

Also 40k fearless ain't same as epic fearless. Also nids have that unstoppable, which really makes up all fearless rules in 40k scale.

You can't break them(ferless+unstop), you can't suppress them, and then they even don't die in combat, and have to be killled to make them out of action, only for a while and then respawn...

If used, it should cost very much. We don't want no brainers here...

Fearless all the way.

Either that or take Fearless away from anything smaller than a Dominatrix (That includes Hive Tyrants etc).

Hierodules should be Fearless. :)

Fearless isn't a size issue. Synapse should have it (with exception of lesser node as that was proven earlier to be too good).

Indeed.

As I said somewhere else, it would perhaps be best if Fearless was limited to Synapse creatures (and the Hydraphant).

I'm fine with Fearless IF they lose the ability to be spawned (or jack the cost up so high that it's basically restricted to Doms, far from the enemy, using spores).

I really like this idea, perhaps make them something like Brood (8) as spawning cost can also be used to balance the strengths of creatures.

This way you can have some serious heavy-hitters in your swarm, but once they go down, it'll be hard to get them back.

I would reserve Fearless for Synapse Creatures and/or WE with DC6+.
SynapseCreatures don't loose their nerves and thus won't be hacked down in a lost assault. The BroodCreatures will retreat in an unorganised, but not paniked manner, and will be vulnerable to hack downs, but the Synapse will remain cool, like a Commissar in the IG.
At DC6 (or even 4) a Creature is too big to be very much concerned about the tiny things hushing around it. If ordered to retreate by the HiveMind it will do so, but not in such an unorganised manner like their smaller Brood cousins. It has a greater overview where it is and where it belongs to than BroodCreatures.

I like Neal's idea of racking up the Spawning cost and making them Fearless.

It always seems weird Spawning something so massive anyway.
