I'm starting to sort out the load of lead I bought a while back and, whilst I know what units I have, I've never payed with the bugs and I'm not sure how to best organise them into swarms.
Two caveats: Firstly, these are the minis I have to work with, I'm not buying more figures now. Secondly, it's designed to be a tooth and claw army for a campaign so I'm not shifting the focus to ranged. With that in mind, what advice does anyone have?
(1 Heirophant) (10 Myetic Spores) 3 Hive Tyrants 6 Warriors 20 Raveners 20 Carnifexes 38 Gaunts
Cheers,
Orde

One question though: How many points are you playing with? Or do you just plan to throw all your units into the game?
In general though I'd divide the Carnifexes into 2 units of 7 and 1 unit of 6. Throw them in around the three Tyrants. Garrison them forwards so they're easier to get into melee. You only have 2 Warrior synapse groups. So give each one 10 Raveners and 19 Gaunts. These guys are your real threats, the tyrants are mostly just there to soak up enemy fire and distract the enemy from the huge wave of littler things incoming. You could divide up the Synapse into 3 Nexus Groups but I'm not sure that'd be as effective (You wouldn't be able to garrison anything, so you'd have a long walk for everyone before they could get close to the enemy)

Thanks guys, that's a grea help. I knew I had too many options and didn't know where to start.
To answer some of your points:
The bugs are going to be providing the 'wandering monster' role in the campaign so the size of the swarm will depend on how their previous battles went and how long they have had to recover since their last engement.
The lack of ranged weaponary is intentional as both of us have plenty of shooty troops so the bugs are intended to be a different challenge: winning tournament games isn't the idea, having a 'free shot' at each other's armies is the intention.
