The Barbed Hierodule has been removed from the list even though ForgeWorld will be making a model when the army is released.
The justification is that the Barbed Hierodule was not present in the Hamman's world invasion force, and only appeared when the same fleet invaded the world of Moran.
Well if it's just a matter of fluff, why not change the fleet to the Moran invasion fleet.
Apart from that the fleet would have the exact same composition, since it is the same hive fleet, just a couple of months down the line.
Let's face it, if there's going to be a model made for the Barbed Hierodule by ForgeWorld, why not change the world being invaded rather than write off one of the very few new models we're likely to get?

I fail to see the idea behind writing it out based on 'fluff', when it'll be one of only four or so new models we'll be getting.

I see your point E&C, however just having a FW model doesn't mean it should be in the list. Look at all those lovely tanks the IG get. As well as superheavy and titan variants.
Don't get me wrong I would love to see the barbed in the list, buteven I find it hard to find justification for it.

Um, when did they say that they'd make an epic scale barbed hierodule? Are you just assuming they will, or did FW actually say they will?
That aside, I do think that the reasoning behind excluding it is a stretch. Unfortunately, the 'Nids already have lots of WEs, and I don't think they need another (personally, I think giving them the Barbed Heirodule would be better than giving them the scythed heirodule, but that's another thread).

So the basic point stands.

Quote (Hena @ 24 May 2006 (18:19)) | They could release something else that would be useful.
Like raveners or hierophant or trygon or some else infantry/AV. | The person I spoke to said they were going to do all the titans they currently make for 40k, but that there was no SG range to support them so there was no point right now.
So that'd be;
Hierophant Scythed Hierodule Barbed Hierodule Trygon (Possibly, this one wasn't mentioned) Harridan (Already made, just needs a re-release)
Raveners I suppose wouldn't be out of the question, but I wouldn't expect anything more than that.

The other thing to consider here is it's MUCH easier to make a smaller version of an already existing model then to try and produce an entirely new model mold for them to make new ones from. Using some of the newer model-making technology (like the computerized modeling programs) they could produce a Heirophant which was simply 1/4 of the size it is in 40K, and you've got a Heirophant about the right size for Epic. They'd have to modify it some to make it a single-piece model most likely for ease of minting, but I doubt that'd be particularly difficult either.
Comparatively if they were to make new Raveners, they'd have to start by making their own versions of the above. The other thing to remember is that Forgeworld is driven more by artistic needs then GW is. Their modelers make lines based on what they want to see made, rather then what may NEED to be made. That's why the produce a wide range of miniatures which actually repeat the GW miniatures, just with different designs. The Hive Tyrants for instance and Ripper Swarms.

I'd like to see the tank bugs (Exocrine, Malefactor, etc) redone to be more detailed and look more inline with the rest of the Tyranids. The same goes for new infantry models for raveners, tyrant guard, zoanthropes, and warriors.

I wouldn't count on FW following through with their "it'll all be in both scales" rhetoric, nor would I count on the few pieces that do make into both scales being produced in the next several years.
