Will the following appear in the EA list?

- Malanthrope

- Trygon (The new style one)

- Large anti-aircraft acid spore mines (Could use 40k ones!)

All three of which are really interesting units on the battlefield.

Well, I've got two Malanthropes in my list as count as tyrants.  It is unlikely that they will turn up in the current list, since they are latter stage synpase creatures.  However if you want to use them I suggest using the following profile

type: AV, speed: 15cm, save: 3+, CC4+ FF6+
weapons
talons, base contact
ripper swarm, small arms, one attack per enemy unit within 15cm
notes: fearless, Inv save, synpase, walker
price about 50 - 75pts

With the Trygon, well we are working on it at the moment.  Trying to strike the correct balance between the old one the FW one and playable rules.

Finally the Arial spore mines.  They crop up every now and then in discussion but the thread normally dies before any descission is reached.

Personnally, if we got anything from IA:4 in the current list then I would want flying warriors, to lead my Gargoyle swarms.

I'd suggest the Malanthrope shouldn't have an FF ability at all.

Incidentally, Bio-Titans are also late-stage creatures, so shouldn't they be left out too?  :8:

Trygon, good to hear it's being worked on... I'd tend to suggest making rules that reflect the FW Trygon rather than the old rules... since TBH I find the new Trygon

a- much more appealing and
b-it's basically replaced the old Trygon as far as 'fluff' goes now anyway.

And yeah, flying Warriors would be cool too.

What exactly do Malanthropes do? All I've read is that they go around scarfing down the tastiest morsels of resistance. Do they have psychic powers, too? Do they have 1337 combat skilz?

it seems to me that they are like the Arvus lighter - they don't seem to have any useful or interesting in-game role.

Malanthropes direct the swarms of rippers that appear in the consumption phase of nid invasions (which is why I gave them a FF ability, to represent the carpet of rippers surrounding them).

In 40K they have synpase and phychic shield and D6+ S6 WS3 attacks that cause instant death (but don't ignore armour despite them being the same size S and T of a MC)
