Post subject:  Brood mother, an added bonus?

I've been thinking about our beloved brood-mother, the Dominatrix, and how I would love to bring her to a battle, even a tornament level one (once I convert a suitable big biotitan for her to ride on).

However, liker most of you (I think) I think that she could be a bit expensive, taking a massive chunk of the synpase allowance and being subsectacal to TK sniping (unless I put my Heirodules with her, who will slow her down). ?I know she has some nice abuilities to off set this, one of them being Brood-mother.

However brood mother is only a bonus if spawning, now I know that under one of the new spawning rules we are discussing, she will get this bonus every turn (making it better), but that is only an idea at the moment.

So I thought of some other incentive we could have to bring her along for the picnic...er... battle. ?My thoughts turned to 40K and the catalyst ability, and the immune to instant death rule. ?Now our boyz don't have these rules, indeed your BWE have a nasty habit of dieing on the wrong critical hit.

So to cut a long ramble down to a slightly shorter one, what about giving th dominatrix a similar ability to pass on to other, either over the entire battle field or to a certain range

Catalyst
A If a Dominatrix is on the table then any WE that suffers a dead critical hit effect is removed in the end phase, not as soon as it is rolled

BIf a WE is within 30cm of a dominatrix and suffers a dead critical hit effect is removed in the end phase, not as soon as it is rolled

Well I don't know what people here are thinking about that, but here are my feelings about big guys in the nid army:
- independant titant are quite balanced IMHO. Yes a hierophant doesn't shoot as good as a imperial titans but is is cheaper and has a good movement. Titan appart, it can destroy most formation, even in FF, because of the good FF/CC score and the 4+ RA, which are both decisive in assault.
- Concerning dominatrix, well honestly I dont know. I think the best way to play it is with a hierodule escort, but as you said, it reduces the move. Anyway I really like the idea  of making the harridan a non synape creature ( thought by one of you in another topic )as it would give the nids a fast non synapse WE that could be used as an escort for fast moving synapses

Have you actually tried it?  I only ask because the first paragraph sounds as if you have not.

My experience from having been on the receiving end of the Big Bug army several times is that the WEs work fine.  The reputedly "unworkably expensive synapse formations" has not been the case in any game where I've faced them in quantity.

Just as an example, a 2700 point Nid army can have a Dom, a Harridan, a HT, and a lesser node for the arty, with a couple of biotitans and some Indy points left over for another Genestealer or Lictor formation.  That's 7 activations, most of which are extremely difficult to remove.

I've also faced a combo that was something like Vituperator, 2 Harridans, a HT and 2 or 3 lesser nodes, with a couple biotitans at ~3K a couple of times (it's been a while and I don't remember the exact lists).  That's 8 formations which, again, are quite difficult to remove (and mostly very fast).

I haven't tried it yet Nealhunt, The Dominatrix model is too small for a DC8 (?) WE, so I'm not taking one until I build an impossing enough model (using the spares from 3 carnifex kits), or able to find a regular opponent.

I was just musing on the fact 40K has unkillable models and we don't.
