As those of you who've been keeping track of the rumour mill, or who went to Games Day UK on Sunday, may know, Forgeworld are working on the Tyranids next, for Imperial Armour IV. Amongst the releases will be a new (and very nasty-looking) Trygon, and a Haruspex, both for 40k. Though the Haruspex wasn't on show (probably not designed yet), the Trygon was:

Going by the rumours and vague descriptions following this beast, it'll be quite the tunneller, much like the Raveners are in the current 40k armylist, with the ability to appear from beneath the ground in the midst of battle, leaving a large enough tunnel for other units to follow in its wake.

I'm not suggesting anything - just bringing this info to the attentions of those here.

Actually, one thought that does spring to mind is having the Trygon as the nearest thing to a Tyranid ground transport...

Allow it to tunnel, and give it a transport capacity to represent the units that can follow it as it tunnels, but force the transported units to disembark as soon as the Trygon arrives. It'd mean making it a synapse creature (otherwise the broods on board would go to ground soon after arriving), but I think it might be interesting to at least try out.

I've got a game next week - I'll see how it works in practice.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the news.

The last I spoke with Jervis, Trygons were not to be allowed in the list.

The "40k Committee" seems to get to make all the decisions and we get seconds, thrids or worst long after they release any news that involves creativity.

Shabbat Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Am I the only getting tired of the "40k committee" making decisions for Epic?   Sometimes I wish GW would give Epic the heave-ho so that all decisions for Epic could be made by Epic people.

No, you are not the only one getting tired of this. There was a time when it was the other way around, when 40K tanks were introduced because they were cool in Epic. I dont see how any but the most general issues cross the boundries.

Besides, what is the problem with the Trygon? There already exists a mini for Epic (not THAT mini, but a mini) so I would have thought that the Trygon would be one of the first things to be OK'ed.

We'll do what works for us ! ?As always ! The 40K wankers can "bugger off"! :O ?I've got all the 'Nid models since SM2, a F/W Harridan and even some OOP Space Fleet 'Nids (all SIB!) I'm going to use ! :;): ?Still waiting for a good list, the last one was not bad, but it included 'Nids that there are no models for ?!?!? ?So I'll use some of the 'Nid models that were put under the same type plus some Pendraken 10mm Aliens, etc. ... I doubt we'll see new Bug models ... We may not even see the old stuff at this rate ! ? ?The 40K weiners can stuff it ! :p

Hi Guys,

I love Jervis and Epic and...

The problem is GW...

Jervis has to wait on the GW "40k Development Comittee" before he can make many of his decisions regarding Epic or other games under his juristiction...

It's frustrating, but you do what you got to do.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Hi!

No Trygons?! Pfft. They can go jump in the lake....

... thank heavens NetEpic makes its own decisions on whats in or out.

Epic at the mercy of a 40k comittee, now I know epic is truely dead in GW's eyes....

Maksim:  Any progress on a v5.50 list?  There are quite a few conceptual changes that were agreed on, but no specifics ever introduced.  A new list or even just a change-list would be much appreciated.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not blaming Jervis. I know it's not his fault. I'm just tired of the 40k weenies determining the course Epic is taking.

Trust me, the problems are comparatively light here - imagine the requirements of a battle game being used to dictate the background present in an RPG, and you'll see the problems WFRP players have to deal with...

As for the presence/absence of certain units - to be honest, isn't that part of why there's a 'hard to find models' section. It's almost guaranteed that Forgeworld will release, at some point, Epic versions of the big nids they're releasing for Imperial Armour v4 (Trygon, Haruspex, etc). If we can't get them put in the main list, we put them in the Hard to Find Miniatures section instead...

I'm a little surprised that GW will allow FW to create a Tygron and at the same time deny EPIC players this creature.

Scott

The 40k Tygron looks great.

Hi!

GW does many "funny" things with epic. Giving "epic" models to 40k and taking them away from epic proper is just one of them.... :;):
