Hi all,

Since neither the Net-EA nor Epic-UK versions of Tyranids completely floats my boat, I've been looking at the third approved alternative, namely the French list. Putting up a pdf here in case anyone else is interested.

Not sure if it exists in an official English version somewhere, but making an (unofficial!) translation wasn't that much work. If some French person would like to confirm that I've translated the special rules correctly, or has better ideas for how to translate some weapon names, be my guest!

Update 17/01/18

Now that there have been some discussion in Sweden around allowing this list for tournament use, I decided to have another look at the translation to see that everything was in order. Needless to say, everything was *not* in order, so now I've double-checked everything to make sure that this is now the case.

It's been confirmed that we're going to allow this list for tournaments in Sweden!

Update 23/01/18

Due to some seriously ambiguous wording in the French original, version 1.0 contained a rather big error around the allowed proportions of Common and Rare Independent Swarms (a close reading of French forums confirm that each has a 33% allowance instead of the shared 33% in v1.0) This has now been corrected, and the language in general been tightened up.

I like that it has the Hive Ship. I find it annoying the Net-EA and Epic-UK tyranid lists don't have spacecraft when to my mind Marines and 'nids are the two armies that are most archetypically space deploying armies.

Isn't the Zoanthrope missing its AA attack?

Yeah, and such a simple thing opens up a lot of interesting army building options. Apart from the space ships, there are a ton of clever and fluffy things hidden in the list. Lots more possibilities for army composition than the Net-EA and E-UK lists, but also lots of interesting vulnerabilities.

Nope, the Zoanthrope has a very different role in this list. They're slightly more durable than the Tyranid Warriors, slightly slower, and a lot shootier. In fact, it's quite possible to play the list with no Tyranid Warriors at all!

Have a plan to field a ton of Carnifex combined with Zoanthropes and a Hive Tyrant, put the lot in a Mycetic Spore and drop them.

The AA units in the list are the Dominatrix, Gargoyles, Biovores (and potentially the Harpies if positioned some clever way).

Since Biovores only has a 30cm range (60 w indirect fire), they're as much an AA unit as a light artillery unit.

Also, since Tyranid Warriors and Hive Tyrants can have Wings, Gargoyles is a much more interesting unit than in the other lists. So it's completely viable to show up with 8, 12 or even 16 Gargoyles in a single formation.

That being said, balanced formations (with both Inf and Vehicles) will be better at protecting the Synapse creatures from being singled out by AT fire. So in practice such a formation may be too brittle.
