Some things to address:

There is no private development of the lists - all that is going on VERY publicly. Published batreps, available army list, open discussion with Neal and the NetERC, etc.

There is no public development of the fluff - for obvious reasons I don't feel it is productive to discuss the finer points of the fiction. In summary, Dave nailed it. The Onachus fleet will have to fill a void left by shortsighted GW writers. None of the fleets as written were capable of eating the Squats. We're backfilling storyline.

As for the book, I have no plans to delay it. Life will do that naturally, so I wouldn't get too worked up over it. But hopefully by NOT delaying things, it will continue to pressure the development of the Tyranids.

I'm not opposed if that's what people want. There were objections to the 9.2.1 method because it had a lot of checking on the part of the user to ensure a valid list (<1/3 syanpse, <1/3 independant) and was restrictive when it came to the uncommons.

What I came up with can represent most of the formations from 9.2.1, the exceptions being swarms that have gargoyles/raveners as a base instead of gaunts, and swarms with a higher concentration of warriors to brood (or just warriors and no brood). But it can do it without the validity checks and is pretty free with the selection of uncommons.

I agree all those traits are desirable. I was just curious as to your flexibility on how to set up formation composition.

Variant lists can always use different org, but it's nice if they can sort of follow the same basic skeleton. All Orks have big/uge, IG are core/support, SMs are almost all free selection of the primary formations, and so on. It would be cool if we could come up with an org Nids could use as a guideline across lists.

It's a very cool list so far, I have enjoyed battling against this challenging army many times (with decent results). Keep up the good work!

Well, at the very least the list has generated a lot of genuine discussion.

...oh, and playtests. I think I was fighting 'nids in my sleep after a point.

so is this a good first contact list for someone wanting to play 2nd edition timeline with newer rules or no?

If there was a SM/TL model for it it's in this list, if there wasn't then it isn't (with the exception of Raveners and the Spores). The fluff has been worked into the timeline, Onachus was supposed to have attacked sometime shortly before/after Behemoth.

Jaldon has sent some stat and special rules consolidations to Chroma, hopefully we'll have an update once he's recovered.

once I get a 1500 point sm2 army built Ill work on playing some of EA as well and I will

I do them on my blog for other games already, so not a problem. Problem is assembling this beast (no pun intended) LOL
