I'd agree to that. Termagants are far, far more useful than Hormagaunts.

Comes with the restriction of getting out of synapse range. Hormagaunts attack 40cm which is quite decent, but they loose the advantage quickly if they are not allowed to get out of the range of their "mind-benders" because their synapse brothers are painly slow. Else no units are really fast enough to support them in CC effectively. The only option is to give them some FF support with Gargoyles or maybe a Trygon or two.

Termagaunts are very useful to get rid of skimmer heavy armies (namely Eldar and Tau). CC oriented armies have a tough day to eliminate even Windrider hosts because they cannot attack in CC.

Yes. They were like that before and those weren't problematic. Lictors have their own problems due to teleport. And the conrolling objects problem mindless fixes.

I mean that even if Genestealers or Lictors *fail* their activation, they'll be able to do what they're best at if Tyranids can assault with a Hold action.

With -1 modifier, yes. However they cannot hold objectives.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding something here Hena:

Do you want the "assault on a Hold" just for "mindless/instinctive" Tyranid formations or for *all* Tyranid formations that are taking a Hold action?

Hold: Can engage on hold, no shooting or support fire

I'm still not sure about this one, though it may be required.

I'm gonna get in my first 8.1 playtest tomorrow.

Not sure about the supporting fire bit of this...

Do you mean that any swarm that takes a hold action cannot offer supporting fire later in that turn or

a mindless swarm cannot offer support fire or

a swarm that fails an activation and is forced to hold cannot offer supporting fire?
