I'm tempted to test it.

I can see the Harridan climbing high, then making a speedy dive towards the battlefield... in the end phase, it chooses to either fly high again (Fly off the board) or flap slowly over the battlefield (operate as a skimmer).

Probably against, I can see gargoyles zipping into flight paths of incoming planes maybe, but EA 'flyer' ability implies some sort of very fast jet powered flight to me. Harridan - it looks like a fat dragon. Mind you in recent movies the dragons have been flying quite fast too... ?:D ? But being involved in aerial dogfights as per previous rulesets maybe not...

Really I don't care either way so long as the game plays well ?:)

I'd have to agree...I'm not really keen on the idea of a Tyranid Air Force.

I do wish we have some Spaceships available, but I don't think Aircraft rules are particularly suited to Tyranid creatures.

but I don't think they fly fast enough to qualify as, well flyers...

Well we don't really know the air speed of such a beastie and there's always my favourite old chestnut ... abstraction :D It would give the Nids a bit of air power too.... which would be a nice addition perhaps - even if it is just a small amount.

But being involved in aerial dogfights as per previous rulesets maybe not

I would definitely see it as a bomber... I could see them as slow bombers that swoop down to deposit gargoyles in an air assault etc, attack ground targets then flap back up into the upper atmosphere...

The only problem I see with this is if it retains status as a synapse creature and its transport ability. The idea of a harridan coming in as a bomber, dropping four gargoyles straight in the opponent's face and assaulting then hanging around as a synapse creature seems pretty nasty. Especially if you field two or three of them. Like space marine air-drops, only with the thunderhawk hanging around on the board to keep fighting!

Aargh! Not this Tyranid flier thing again.

Hehe I think Hena might be coming around to the idea...

Harridans divebombing all over the place - it'll be great! :;):

That's a very interesting idea!

What if Harridans were dual status as Bomber / Skimmers.

It *is* interesting... but I don't think they fly fast enough to qualify as, well flyers... and that would be *another* special rule... *laugh*

That sounds like a 'Support Craft' to me...?

I'm not really sure support craft would be an advantage for these guys, more of a disadvantage really given their weapon ranges!

Yep, as support craft they'd die even faster.

They're sub-par as it is!

How can something die faster than immediately?

I had a Harridan live until turn three the other day!

Okay so it was down to 1DC and was skulking behind a hill frantically spawning, but hey...

Played a game today with the same list... 'nids vs. IG.

Both Harridans lived until the end of the game!

Both! :D
