Anything above a chimera is rarely made outside a forgeworld, even Russ aren't that common. WE like baneblades are only made on forgeworlds and issued to guard armies.

I'd even branch out a little from the Paul M. Tim H. lists and go a new direction.

An advanced stage infestation could have multiple 2nd tier patriarchs, Titan groups, superheavies, and other novelties.  I wouldn't handicap a list by limiting it to a lower level infestation.  The death of invention for this type of list is worse than shooting high.

Remember this paradigm is older than most players at this point and it's hurting for new blood.

Don't limit because of the old model which nobody has bothered to develop in over 10 years.

Exactly

The Cult army has Forgeworld issued Baneblades that they took over. I think you answered that nicely   :handshake:

Guard units that are garrisons are not issued with front line specialist equipment like baneblades :) They get shipped from warzone to warzone to repair shop. The remnants or new regiments that get garrison jobs have to make do with what was issued on the homeworld then topped up from adminstranium stocks (standard issue flashlights and sticks) or what wasn't destroyed along with the rest of the regiment prior to becoming a garrison.

Your no fun TRC. It's Christmas time. Perhaps they were all good boys and girls and the Forgeworld Santa decided it was time that such Genestealer infested worlds should have some   :)

I agree with TRC; the Genestealer Cult wouldn't have access to SHTs. If they ever did manage to get their hands on a Baneblade or similar then I don't think it'd last long because of maintenance, logistics and crew training.

I envisage a Cult list having Chimeras at the most - maybe Siegfried/Ragnorak style tanks (Whatever the PDF would be equipped with).

JUst have lower tech superheavies like the Mossinian list and don't allow them to be in detachments of 3: support slots only?

I was thinking about all of this recently actually...

Potential formations include:

-LatD cultist like formations, mix of hybrids and Brood Brothers (cultists): these should be the main type of formation with access to upgrades.
-Genestealer formations
-Smaller Teleporting Formations? To help capture the sneaky nature of the cult: these would have to be limited...
-0-1 SC Formation: contains patriarch and hybrids and add on 'stealers
-Low tech superheavies.
-Looted artillery
-looted tanks
-limited formations of pdf planes?
-outrider buggies.

Upgrades could include:
-pretty much everything that's in the LatD list!

Units that could require creating:
-Hybrids (two types of: remember there were rarer groups of psychic ones too!)
-Patriarch
-Magus: are there multiple magi? Was thinking that this unit would lead the cultist formations: either that of those psychic hybrids could lead each one? A couple of Leader units per formation would make them different to other cult formations and harder to break: representing thier mind wiped fervor!
-Outrider buggies (just based on ork buggies surely?)
-CULT LIMOS!

ANy more?

-CULT LIMOS!

They are already in the list if you count them as the land transporters.   :)

Point well made...
Though I've always seen them as something a bit more special: the stats are right but I wouldn't want to see whole formations of limousines on the table: I see them as special transports for cult leaders etc, not sure if it would be worth creating something special though or merely suggesting that people could model one limo per formation to keep with fluff...

IF Super-heavy Tanks i could only see Stormswords (which are repaired and refittet SH Tanks whose advanced guns where damaged) or Stormhammers in formations of one single tank.

Well if we're talking about multiple stages of infection, why not simply lock out certain upgrades and support options, giving each stage an incentive or "bonus" over the other.
IF at stage 3 you get all the stuff at stage 1 & 2....no real point to ever play the early stages of uprising.

It could be argued to have a single super heavy kicking around during a final stage infestation as much combat has already taken place, hostages taken, people hypnotized to do the genestealers bidding, response units assigned to the planet only to be swarmed and have vital equipment stolen before they know whats happening on the world.

There are sensisble ways to give them "something" semi big, with it all making sense.

Maybe having vehicle concepts similar to orks with vehicles they've managed to make on their own by adding weapons and steel plates etc.
Scrapping weapons from systems they cant maintain onto simpler vehicles that they can.

I just made a patriach duder last night. I'll post a pic when its done hehe.

The Genestealer Ark could easily be super heavy.  Maybe mirror the chaos war altar?  It's described as a walker, but I'm sure that's flexible.

Hybrid Hierarchs could find their way into the list as well.
