Yeah, fantastic stuff, we should get quite a few entries if Fanatic link to us, and with all these prizes- perhaps a 'special thank-you mention' could be made to all the people who have donated stuff at the gallery for all the entries when it is up..?

Cybershadow- Brilliant!  My email there didnt warrant a reply, but yours makes up for that in spades.  I'm sure this will be a prize worthy of some attention!  Re blisters, I'm sure nobody really cares about packing condition and remember; its the lead that counts!  If you do find anything surplus to your needs pls let me know.

Which goes for anybody- all gratefully accepted.  There is some neat prizes in the wind, including something a little special and unique.  No details yet, but rest assured it is worthy of your best efforts to participate!

Stormseer- we will indeed have a "Grateful Thanks" section on the front page to highlight who has dug deep to provide prizes.

WRT The debate about a "Veterans" category, I can see both points of view and appreicate the offers made to step aside to make way for others to have a chance of winning a place.  Very noble indeed.

I would rather not go to the trouble of having to police such a category however.  There are a lot of people who are resigned to not winning but will enter anyway for the fun of it (and who knows, we may have enough prizes for some "special mentions"!)

If you feel strongly about it, how about a self imposed restriction to entering only in a single category?  This may be an easy answer.  Feel free to add pics for anything as usual however!

Thoughts??? :l

We are working towards formally publishing the rules and "going live" this weekend to start the painting frenzy.

So if you have any burning issues about the rules and categories, speak now!

A new forum thread has been established so further chats about the comp will go there.

More to follow...

Hi!

That was very nice of Jervis. Hopefully some prizes can be had to make the competition more interesting.

Primarch,

Does this mean that Jervis has committed to providing prizes?

Will this also mean that we will be a "quasi-sanctioned" event?

I'm mostly asking because I wanted to enter some of the proxy figures that I have been building (I've been painting the new 6mm Scotia sci-fi IG companies), but if GW has much to do with it then I probably won't be allowed to do so.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

All this is 'as far as I know', but anyway...

This competition is run by the members of this board, and is not controlled or sanctioned by GW in any way. I emailed Jervis to let him know about it (as did others here), and he replied enthusiastically and kindly offered a donation of prizes for the event.

Personally, I would be happy to have non-GW minis in the event, as long as they conform in some way to the Epic categories listed and could be used in the game. If, as a result of this, GW pulls their support for the competition, then I would be rather keep the 'open nature' and rely on prizes donated by the community.

However, I think that Jervis (and I have not checked or confirmed any of this) would be fine that Epic is being pushed, even if a variey of minis are used. For me, this is one of the reasons why I am determined to keep these boards independent.

For me, this gives us the best of both worlds. Jervis is enthusiastic about the competition, and is willing to provide a few prizes and advertise in the Epic Vault (I don't know many other GW people who would be so open in this way!), and we are able to decide on procedures.

I myself use minis from a huge variety of makers.

I'm glad that you're the boss, Cyber-Shadow. I treasure the site's independence as well.

The way I figure, the game is promoted whether we use GW lead or not. As long as we're playing the rules, those same rule sets sell and GW still comes out ahead.

However, I think that Jervis (and I have not checked or confirmed any of this) would be fine that Epic is being pushed, even if a variey of minis are used. For me, this is one of the reasons why I am determined to keep these boards independent.

While I haven't cared for a few of Jervis' decisions regarding E-A, I get to like him better and better for his open attitudes and easy-going ways. The differences are primarily artistic and I can live with those. He makes some great decisions regarding how to promote the game and I'm really learning to trust and respect him.

If only he had these ideas back when SM-2/TL was still around! (Of course, maybe he did!)

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

so you will still be wanting my contribution to the prize fund then (the Snapdragon building).

As I do, though I have to admit more for scenery and stuff, though I do have a range of the GZG VTOL stuff which is very IG for me and though I think I may have to "replace" it with a Valkyrie or two (as I do like that model).

Hi!

Here's a question:

Do prizes HAVE to be GW stuff? What other miniature stuff would people want?

Also, for those who would like to donate something, who would collect the prizes until they are given away?

Give us a chance to get the webpage up will you guys?  Jeez! :p

No, prizes dont HAVE to be GW and all donations are still most welcome.  More the merrier!

Seriously, many thanks to those who have offered up their goodies, it is most appreciated and will be reflected in Thanks Section.  Could I ask you all to keep hold of your donations for now, and I will contact you seperately later about how we will send them those deserving them!

Cybershadow- concur.  As far as I'm concerned, this is OUR comp (and YOUR boards/site) so while GW sponsorship is very welcome, but not necessary.  Nor will it dictate events....

due to the international nature of the comp, it makes sense for me if the donor of the prize also donates the postage costs of sending it to the winner (wherever they may be) as well

it makes little sense to me, to send everything to Cyber or Tas and then for them to send it out again

also as I guess most of the prizes are Epic stuff the postage costs will be negligible...

Jimbo looks up at his donated castle and wonders why he dontated such a large and heavy prize

We can sort out the distribution of prizes at a later date. I am, however, happy for people to send stuff to me, and I will run away quickly... I mean post them out to the winners.  :l

I guess that it depends where the winners live!
