Yes, in the Exodus Wars category.

Yes, in the Exodus Wars category.

Just to be clear, I meant a combination of both Exodus wars and GW.

I could put just EW on some bases, but I don't know if I want to do that.

If it's a mix we've thrown it into the open category in the past.

It serves as advertising, and given that the four manufacturers donate the biggest prizes I'm inclinded to give them as much advertising as possible.

I don't think GW is giving prizes though. Why do they get a separate category?

I completely agree with there being an Onslaught and EW category, and I really look forward to the day when I can enter it. It is just the main categories (say... a formation) seem to be GW only, and I'd like to include some of the EW range mixed into that.

Their advertising is working by the way.

On the shadow competition:

What is breaking GW IP these days? GW pulled specialist games completely.
Look at shapeways, look at all the 1:1 Battlefleet Gothic copies on there. GW sent some mails to get somethings removed but look at Armand's shop or GrimDark Bitz, GW did not ask them to be removed.

If someone enters a painted "controversial" model. So what?
GW won't do a lot about it in these non-gw-funded competitions.

Ha. We dont just 'not break the rules' when we feel that we will be caught. :spin

GW IP is exactly that, whether they choose to exercise their rights or not. We may or may not agree with it, but thats the law. Besides which, keeping a good relationship with GW generally is probably a good idea. You never know if/when these games will resurface with GW.

Its also not only about GW, but we have several other mini manufacturers who call this place a home, and its important that the guidelines are adhered to and visibly done so.

I agree that the time is right to stop giving GW miniatures the limelight in this way.

GW does not sponsor this event; why not let the sponsors into the main categories?

(Edit: grammar)

Why not take the manufacturer categories out of it all together ? Taccoms "public" vote for best painted in each section independent of which manufacturer the minis are from, and then allow the prize suppliers to pick their favoured winners to give their prizes to?

On the "dark" minis - I have to back CS. No one wants TC taken down because it's seen to be promoting "illegal" copies - no matter how most of us feel about GW and it's policies.

I agree with that. No seperate competitions per manufacturer. GothiComp is one big pile of spaceships: Games Workshop, Forgeworld, Spartan Games, Kitbash, Scrathcbuild. Homemade castings, etc.

Of course; if it's the sponsors who want separate categories, well that's what they should have (o:
