Let's hear them guys, while it's still fresh in your mind.

I'd still like to go back to the way things were 4 years ago now, with named submissions. I don't think the anonymity get's us anything. Anyone who's going to vote for someone is going to know their style well enough to pick their entries out. It be one less thing I'd have to ask people to correct, I still get entries with names on them.

Speaking about that, how can I get people to read the rules? 90% of the questions I answer or entries I ask to be resubmitted are dealt with in the first post on the rules thread.

I want to say that a submission flowchart-like form, rather than email, might work...you could step entrants through the process such that they end up in the right place...but that would take time, and likely a database. And also doesn't solve the immediate problem of them knowing what they can and cannot submit. :(

Something like this (I'm sure you could do something more elegant, I just whipped this up in google docs):

I know the rules for battle force have been changed recently, but this year seemed to have a lot of very low base/mini count or single formation formation entires. Could the restrictions be nudged up again so that battleforce = battleforce?

Agreed. One formation does not a battleforce make.

It could, or we could create a Best Formation Category instead (or just rename it :P).

We lowered the composition requirement to allow for more entries. At least that was the thought back then.

I always preferred having non anonynous entries and seeing them as they get entered, it inspires people and reminds them the competition is on.

You and me both.

@elsmore

  • improper image size
  • name on image
  • doesn't meet category criteria

My favorite though is "Dave, here's some images pick one to enter." You know who you are people! ::)

On the automation stuff, I saw this last week http://xkcd.com/1319/

The alt text is particularly accurate.

Me too kind of. The downside though is that it can be demotivating when I see something so awesome that I don't want to put my humble offerings alongside it... :-[
Anonymous hidden entry might be less intimidating I think and is a good reason for keeping it.

I entered a wrong entry, but I felt the wording for the battleforce was a little confusing, and I missed the 'three of the following' bit..... ::)
