Alright guys, so I think the four classic categories have served us well and will be back unless the community says otherwise:

  • Best Single Model
Any single 6mm sci-fi vehicle/flyer or stand of troops.
  • Best War Engine
Any single 6mm sci-fi war engine (Titan, super-heavy tank/flyer, etc.)
  • Best Battleforce
    Four of the following:
    • Four 6mm sci-fi vehicles or stands of troops.
    • One 6mm sci-fi war engine.
  • Open
A single diorama or terrain piece.

I will check with Tom, Doug and Steve to see if they would like EW, DRM and MWG categories respectively. To any other 6mm sci-manufacturer on these boards feel free to PM me if you'd like start another "company category".

After that, what else do people want?

A 10mm category? CS broke it up into two (Fantasy/Historical and Modern/Sci-fi) but with this being the first time we did it I think we should start small and expand if there's a need. Thoughts?

A 6mm Fantasy/Historical/Modern/Sci-fi category? Or should we break it up into more than one?

Or, should we do categories for Fantasy, Historical, Modern and generic Sci-fi, regardless of scale. I'm less in favor of this way, but thoughts?

As a non 6mm player I would think it is the coolest to have the categories are open for every company. This will show greatest variety in what is available.

The forum is taccom, epic40k is from the past so to say.

Hi Dave,
welcome in the organising business.

I would have thought EW, DRM and MWG could probably share a category, as i doubt there would be that many entries into each individually?

I do feel that 6mm fantasy should not be mixed with 6mm historical/modern, if anything it should be in with general sci-fi instead. Eg, a goblin throwing a fireball is closer to a an alien with a force weapon than to a panzergrenadier imo. That said, while I'm keen on 6mm fantasy, not many other on here aside from Steve seem to be :(

Not so interested in other scales personally, for me the 6mm is what makes epicomp, epicomp.

Yeah, epicomp should be 6mm.

I agree with blackhorizon - 6mm only since it is "epicomp"

And I'm not just saying that because I know you're painting a ton of 10mm

10mm would be MasterComp. Entrants: Me and Dave. Victor: Dave. ;)

Looks fine to me. :)

10mm would be cool given the big box of 10mm models sitting next to me.

Nah, you'd win. I've seen all that stuff in person - his pics are all photoshopped :P

I'm fairly certain enough people have EW to merit a category especially with all the sales recently. 2 releases a month has really paid off for us.

I'd definitely prefer 6mm only.

I don't see much value in a Fantasy/Historical/Modern/Sci-fi category. The EpiComp is about Epic 40K/Armageddon/Titan Legion/DRM/EW etc. 3 of those 4 proposed categories really don't fit in at all. Wouldn't there be other competitions for these styles of miniatures?

Things is, it should really be the warmaster side of things that does a 6mm contest.

This is a good point. An alternative option would be to keep EpiComp as it always has been (6mm science fiction) and use the abandoned BattleComp for a more generic painting competition including 10mm, fantasy, etc.

Best Battleforce... should "take" GW's Army on Parade... not actually looked into the GW competition rules, but wondering if you could get away with an Epic army on parade entry :)

Must be from Warhammer, 40,000 or LotR.

Boo.

I don't see what's so great about a battleforce consisting of four stands or vehicles... it's not very different from the single unit category. I think it should be larger, anything from two complete formations to an entire army.
