I have to say, I think the entries this year were the best yet.  Judging them was brutally difficult.  Personally, I agonized over every vote.

Agreed. For every heat, when I looked at the entries my first thought was, "How can I possibly pick one?"

Congratulations to all the winners and thanks once again to CS for all his efforts.

Excellent displays of painting skill all around.  Well done to everyone who entered.  I didn't really see any models that wouldn't look out of place in a display cabinet.

Now the question is for next year can anyone touch WMN and his sublime painting skills?  Is that the second or third year in a row for war engine catagory?

Or should we just go over there and pull all the hairs out of his brushes? :)

Let's kidnap him, roll him up in a rug and throw him off a bridge.  WMN competition problems are instantly gone! :p

:D

Well I think this year's comp has shown that there's certainly people around here who are just as good with a brush as myself.

In all seriousness though there is a certain point to what you say: It is not really fun to have a competition if the outcome seems predictable (deserved or not). I think I've won my fair share of EpiComps over the years so it'd probably be healthy for the comp if I tone down the ammount of entries a bit next year. Not that I will stop putting out weird things on these boards of course :;): That said I think I'll try and limit myself to a single category next year, and only if there's a REALLY good prize :D :p

Anyway: Thanks alot everybody. It's been great fun as always.

NO!!!  Keep it coming.  We all just need to raise the bar.

Thanks to everyone who organised the comp, provided prizes and voted. It was the first EpiComp I've entered and thanks to Warmaster's gracious decision I managed to walk away with the Battleforce award. Thanks in particular to DRM for putting up such a cool prize.

The standard of the entries made it great fun to compete against everyone and it's awesome to see such cool Epic minis being painted/converted despite the cooling of SG support for the game. I feel very humble to have come away with such a result considering some of the work that I was competing against.

I've been making steady progress on my Warp Ghost Chaos Marines and plan to put up a army diary when I get the chance. I also hope to get in a few more games in the coming months to master them on the tabletop.

Thanks again guys.

Hear hear!  :D

And congrats Reddeth - grand job, and yes, more Ghostly marines please.

Oh, and don't you all walk away yet - there's still the conversion prize to go. Inside information says the judging for that will soon be done.  :D

No; you should keep the entries coming! For one thing it's always great to see such marvellous work, and for another, whoever wins next year would just be thinking 'I only won cos WMN didn't enter...'

So please enter anyway! we've got a year to work on beating you... :D

I've started my entries already! (OK, they are really the ones for this year that I never got round to painting. ? )

Regards,
Reaver

Well yes and no: I know I've only won these last years because Tufskull haven't entered :D Also I'm sure Mageboltrat and several others could give me a run for the money if they decided to enter. There's always a bigger fish... :p :D :;):

I totally agree. Besides, that is why we have the 'one prize per person' rule - precisely so that the past winners can continue to enter and still allow others to win as well.

Congrats to everyone- especially WMN but even the early rounds were so difficult to vote on as so difficult to decide. Awesome Imperators!!

Thanks to C/S for organising and doing the unsung admin work.

Cheers

James
