Hi chaps.

Having sold my model range to Vanguard when I fell ill, I'm now back well again and sculpting more models for Vanguard. :-)

I have this thing sitting around on my hard drive, it was intended to be a Heavy Cruiser version of the Light Cruiser I sculpted, using the same modular weapons sprue as the Light Cruiser (to allow a choice of weapons configurations - cannons, lasers, and fighter bays, as well as turret options).

Would you be interested in seeing it finished?

For some reason I feel that the Earthican ships might make great additions for the Cybershadows' fleets.

Feedback from Facebook is coming in:

Quote:
Looks nice but... a bit too long and slim? Not so much like a cruiser but a longer light cruiser. The middle part could use a bit of more detailing, too.

I have the Vanguard ships and they are quite good. I like the flat areas available for freehand and icons. Not too too sure about the blank box in the center though, make it look more like an awkward conversion. I'd also to see it a bit thicker. Looks a bit like two escorts rammed together.

Quote:
Nice news but i agree with Efty : it's looking so far to be just the escort he already did but with more space for the weapon. Could be nice if do something brand new for this hull with keeping this kind of prow.

Got FB in from B&C:
Quote:
Reminds me of the Mechanicus ships.

I mostly feel it's missing a bridge. But maybe I'm too used to that other company's aestetic.

Ohhhh that might work. Put a raised swept wing ish bridge on the top of that square part. Not too dissimilar in shape to the novan command vehicle bridge

Some feedback from the French BFG forum (rough translation):

Quote:
Well it is in continuity with the Earthican light cruiser. But, as in the light cruiser I dislike the weapon bay insert. I think year location That can fit existing like weapons bays (Permitting to use GW, Resin Addict, Helian, DK, Armand's Miniatures weapons bays) Would be more sexy and attractive, and will permit to sell more ships under Reviews another name pattern.

HOWEVER I would say I have a crush on the Venusian ships, they'd make nice Mechanicus escorts.

I was working on fixing the VTOL fliers' tails (mk3 versions) and whipped up a Skycrane variant for the range while I was at it.

I love that one! By the way, if you do decide to make a smaller variant of the Bulwark, how about doing a skycrane variant of that one as well, something akin to this? :)

That's a nice looking ship.

I've always thought that a transport pod thunderbird 2 style would be better for transport of most marine heavy equipment. The current sky crane designs are ok for rapid vanguard unit deployment but i've always been bothered by re-entry effect upon the vehicles and passengers for that matter. Has the thunderhawk transport got a shield that projects around the vehicles being transported if not how do they survive the heat and turbulance of the rapid drop from space.

Always thought a detachable cargo module would be a more realistic option. The carrier would just land the module on the ground detach and return to orbit to pick up the next one. The cargo module would also act as a beach head and defensible position for those first on the ground.

So should I get a thunderbird 2 cargo pod carrier designed it's always been something i've wanted to do.

Oooh, that would mean that cargo modules would need to be designed as well right? :D Something of a mix between a Thunderbird 2 cargo pod and this

I designed something like that a couple of years ago, but for 28mm scale. Could modify it to fit 6mm scale:
