Hi!

This thread is for posting on anything related to the revision of the Tyranids Book.

Those whom wish to supervise this list, please state so in your post and compile an editable document of the changes that are posted.

Thank you!

For who ever takes the lead on the nids, a few comments from a member of my gaming group.

It would be nice to see some units that are noticeable by omission. Some of the new units introduced since the original epic have been included (flying hive tyrants) but others left out (flying warriors), although that raises the question about how thorough you want to be about including newer units (Tau Riptides?).

I noticed quite a few things I found confusing when reading through the nid rules although I can't recall them all now. I think a few of them were addressed in the errata which was really hard to find at the time. The biggest was with how bio cannons work - most have AA but it isn't clearly stated that they get to shoot ground targets as normal. Some bio cannons that are included in the profiles of superheavies (the dominatrix and harridan) are not noted as AA (and I think also lacked the +1 to rolls on the damage chart other bio cannons had) at all which seems oddly inconsistent, especially as I'd expect harridans to have the ability to shoot aircraft. I also seem to recall I was confused as to whether gargoyles made a double or single infiltration move although that might have been me not understanding the rules.

Few tweaks on tyranid list we're experimenting:

- Rippers : CAF reduced from +2 to +1
- Genestealers: cost increased from 150 to 175
- Bio titan Hierophant: move reduced to 20cm, chassis cost increased to 525 points
- Bio titan Hierodule: chassis cost increased to 400 points
- Bio Cannons: no more AA. They still can shot at flyers (in their fire arc) but will suffer the same penaltys as other units for targeting flying units
- Zoanthrope: become the dedicated AA unit of the tyranid army: still hit on a 5+ on first fire and 6+ on advance order. TSM will decrease according to target range:
- 0-25cm: tsm -6
- 26-50cm: tsm -4
- 51-75cm: tsm -2

- Regeneration card: this card will regenerate as much wounds as the unit initial wound number (on a dominatrix, card will regenerate a maximum of 4 wounds). On Bio-Titans, still regenerate 1D6 wounds.

Hi!

Status Update:

If you choose to "lead" a particular army, just post a message on the respective army thread as to where you are on reading the books for corrections and such.

This is just to get an idea to see where we are all at. :)

Just wondering, given Onslaught Miniatures excellent Hybrid proxies - http://www.onslaughtmini.com/32-legion- ... horde.html - are there any plans to create units and stats to include them in a Tyranid army list. The big question would be what, if any, technology could the hybrids operate? If any, should they have access to, say IG vehicles/technology?

Hi!

I've been thinking about this since I first saw those models and the answer would be yes. Not only for those, but everything they produce.

I would prefer to leave doing that for last since that deserves its own attention. :)

They would be suited for an ally rather than a full list as the cult is not expected to take to the battlefield, they work in the shadows subverting the population from the inside. You don't even expect to see them in small skirmishes on a 40k battlefield.
I see an army that utilises them would be significantly IG or PDF based, even more than the normal 75/25 split.

Hi!

I was thinking something along the lines of an army of renegade IG units with a core of hybrids, like the old fluff would allude to when a planet is being overtaken. To this you could add choose tyranid units like lictors that are in keeping with the "infiltrative" nature of such a force.

There is a Genestealer Cult Army List pdf somewhere. Can't remember if it's a NetEpic 4.1 or 5.0 file. It contains rules for hybrids, patriarch, magus and is allied with some IG planetary defense forces... Not very competitive but interesting.
