Just noticed a thing.

In the entry for Colonel & Major (page 11 of the pdf) it reads: "... they may change the orders of one Imperial Guard detachment that is within 25 cm..."

This seems odd as they may also be selected as Special formations on the Planetary Defense Forces list. I'm guessing the specific mention of Imperial Guard is a typo and they would also be able to affect PDF troops as well.

Hi!

As I construct the corrections master PDF and focus my attention on the IG transports. Since all integrated transport formations are being removed, I would need the cost of ONE gorgon according to the old Gold way of pricing them.

Is 100 points per gorgon sufficient?

Personally, I've been using a value of 75 for the Gorgon at Gold level.

However, I thought that we were NOT changing any Gold level formations. All of the changes of that nature were for Platinum. I will admit that it has been a while since I've gone through this thread, but my recollection at the moment is that Gold was not being changed to that degree.

Hi!

The gold summary thread for IG mentions that transport will not be integrated and people can "add them on". It also mentions options for the gorgons, thus my question.

I will use the value of 75 points you mentioned for them.

The use of integrated transport options was "optional" under gold (thus the Astrix on them). Now they will be separate for people to use or not.

Integrated Transport was optional in Gold. Fascinating. Every listed formation currently in Gold (that includes Transports) just lists them as being a part of the formation. No notation of them being optional. I cannot see where you are getting "they are already optional" from at all.

That said, I am aware of the "Footsloggers" rule in the Core, but that seems to me like the option, and Integrated Transports is the standard.

If people decided that they would rather the Transports be optional, that's fine. But as far as I can tell, at the moment they are standard rules.

If you go to the Adpetus Militaris book starting on page 27, all companies listed under "mechanized infantry" have one asterisk next to their title (except mole and hellbore companies that have two).

On page 28 and following pages after this it is noted that one asterisk means "optional unit, requires consent of all players to use".

In fact there are quite a few formation with this one asterisk in that book, denoting their "optional status".

With the sole exception of the gorgon tactical company, hellbore company and mole company all the rest that have integrated transport have the asterisk.

Strangely enough I counted about 48 formations (out of approximately 113) between pages 27-30 that had the asterisk marking them as optional.

That's quite bit of optional formations.

I also think that this is a holdover from when the revision was going on, nearly 12 years ago.

Oh, you meant that the entire formation is optional. Gotcha. I thought you were saying that the formation having Transports in it was in and of itself optional. That makes sense then.

Frankly, noting any formations as "requires consent" at this point is probably silly, as all of the models are long out of production.

Agreed. While I won't change it in Gold, we will certainly dispense with it in Platinum.

I have made good progress on the errata PDF summary for gold changes. I am making it in such a way that if you printed out the book, all you need is this PDF.

Once I finish it I will post it on the forums for general commentary as I begin editing the master gold files to incorporate the changes.

I expect to do this fairly swiftly.

I just looked at the errata added version of the Adeptus Militaris pdf to see how you altered the Companies as the errata document says that you were removing transports from them. At least, it seemed to say that, as I see that you did not remove any formations with transports in them. Which is confusing.

To add to the confusion, you changed the Support formations for Chimera (and variants) to just be adding to an existing formation. I strongly dislike this. The Guard are not Orks, they just don't work that way. Also, what about people who might want to take (as a random example) a Support formation of Chimerax for a Vindicator Company? They cannot do that now. It is also going to be more difficult to do the Points Formula values for this.

Even though it is good to now have a Support Formation for the Gorgon, it is in the wrong sub-list. It should be in with the Super Heavy, as that is what it is. You have also missed a few transport options.

Hmm, I'm going to have to go into more detail with the next tweak listings for the Guard as to their options for formations both with and without included transports. I'll be working that up as soon as I can. In the mean time, I'd suggest reverting the Chimera (& variant) Support Formations to their previous format.

The add on transport was what seem most wanted, if I recall correctly.

As for what I left in, its a formatting issue. I'm not too proficient with Indesign, so deleting things and adding them may prove tricky since it alters the format in which it is done. It took me a while to even do the little I did without totally screwing it up.

Tell you what, forward to me how you think the all this should look like and I will shift all the IG vehicle support things to a separate PDF that can be downloaded. So Gold stays in the original format for IG and then there will be an add-on for those whom like it that way.

I probably should have done this from the get go, but its not a big deal to do this now.

Ah, right. That sounds familiar that people wanted the transports to be able to be added on. However, that should probably be done more like Platinum is doing it. IE without using up Support formations. In other words, list the companies without any transports, then list the options for transports and their costs. Then Special formations, then Support formations. Adding transports to a formation should not use up another formation slot. Well, in my opinion anyway. I guess if most people wanted that done via Support formations then that is different.

Yeah, formatting issues can get tricky.

While I don't have a final list just yet, I am currently working on Guard formations. While doing this, I have (again) noticed the discrepancy of some formations having 10, 6, or 5 stands. Sometimes for no discernible reason. So I've kept all of them, just to give people more options. At the moment, I'm referring to any formation with 10 stands as a "Legion", ones with 6 stands as a "Platoon", and ones with 5 as a "Squad". With a few exceptions.

Consider the following a preview of the second tweak run. I have not yet done the Company formations, but here are the Infantry-based Special and Support formations. Note also that many of these are 'new' formations, but based on existing ones. Any formation presented here that is not in the Gold pdf (and some that are) should be considered 'optional'.

I just realized that all of the costs for "... on Bike", "... on Horse", and "... in Speeder" are a bit off. I'm not going to change them above, as that is really just to show you where I'm going with formations.
