Post subject:  Imperial Guard Superheavy Companies

On Thursday I had my first game with the Imperial Guard, using a nearly 100% tank army.. amnog them a company of StormHammer superheavy tanks.

During the game I (Wrongly, I guess) assumed that the two non-Command tanks of the company were able to receive orders from any CHQ within 25/35cm (I had a Leviathan too).. just as it was under Epic Spae Marine rules.

Rightly a friend of mine pointed out that the Adeptus Militaris army book states that in the company there is only one CHQ and no SHQs. Therefore looks like that the two non-Command tanks of the company simply have to stay in 6cm coherency with the Command superheavy tank, or a higher rank HQ model... but always within 6cm!

Am I missing something, or the IG superheavy companies have been limited so much?

Thanks!

It's the tradeoff for them being a little cheaper than they would be otherwise. For example, a single Stormblade in IG is 275, or 800 points for a company. In another army, like AdMech, who doesn't have the command structures that IG does, the single Stormblade is 300 points, or 900 points for a full company.
