Hi guys,

I love the simplicity of SM2 but it would be nice to use newer models. So really, my questions are:

How easy is Gold to play - having had a look at the rule book there seems a lot more than sm2/Titan legions.

Is it well supported/active?

Thanks,

Rob.

Hi!

As to its ease? Very easy. As easy as the original game. It just solved many of the issues the game has while preserving its gameplay.

If you've played sm2 before you will have no problem playing gold or getting used to the extra things added. :)

Gold is a little more complicated than straight SM2 was, but not as much as it looks. For the most part, the rulebook for Gold seems more complicated because it (at least tries to) closes a lot of holes that SM2 had. A lot of those holes were closed back in the SM2 era, but in White Dwarf articles. The Gold rulebook consolidates them in one place. Thus the appearance of greater complexity.

Playing is about as easy as SM2/TL rules. It might take you a game or three to get used to some of the differences, but overall it is about the same.

Supported/active. Somewhat, yes. This forum hasn't been very active for a while, but there are several people who post about Gold in the two Facebook groups that I am in.

NetEpic Gold is a stable ruleset. There will not be any major changes to it. There might be some minor tweaking here and there to clean up language issues and/or typos, but that is about it.

Welcome to NetEpic Gold.

It is very similar to SM2. There are some differences, but if you are an experienced SM2 player it is unlikely to take much getting used to. My suggestion is that you give it a go and see how you find it. If there any problems, you can ask for assistance here :).
