Post subject:  Adeptus Mechanicus - Optional army book

Hello,

A few time ago I read the AMTL gold codex, in order to build an army, and some points have disturb me:

- No robot
- Too close to the Imperial guard list
- No specific Skitarri force
- A lack of personality

In Order to correct these points I have make a new Codex with :

- Add of Characters with special rules
- Add of Skitarii special force (related to Skitarrii GW codex)
- Suppression of some units too close to Imperial guard
- Addition of specific units
Different kinds of robots
Some infantry Skitarii and servitors
Vehicles (Troop transport, support…)
Adeptus Minoris (Super Heavy)

- Buff of Knight

I want to know your point of view, do you know this new version is a good idea?
Other point, what do you think about the codex himself ?

Here the link to the codex : https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9qYXQ ... RXQU0/edit

Thanks for reading,
Jean

Hi!

This army list was done a very long time ago, before much of the current lore was done, so it is showing its age.

I would agree that an updated list is needed.

That is also true for several other lists, like Necrons and Tau.

Most of these "newer" ideas will be incorporated to the Platinum version under considerations as the Gold version stays as is.

As primarch stated above, the existing Adeptus Mechanicus codex for Gold is based on the lists from 2nd edition, specifically from Titan Legions box set and a few later additions. Yours seems (I'm guessing) to be based on the current AM rules. This could be good addition for Platinum, but is going to need some heavy editing.

For example, in the first few pages, you keep using the term "re-launch". There is no such term in Epic. Based on how you are using it, I'm guessing that you may mean "re-roll" instead.

There are a lot of grammatical issues as well. You should really have someone who is fluent in both your language and English look through it and fix them.

In the stat blocks and the army list, why is some of the text in red? This is rather distracting.

Have these points costs been play-tested by anyone? If so, how many people over what period of time? Also, if this is being done for Platinum (as it would have to be since the NEG version will not be changed to this extent) then the points costs should be generated using the Points Formula over in the Alternative Rules threads.

Aside from the above issues, this looks fairly good.

Thanks for the feedback,

One thing I don't have specify is the fact than this codex is under developpment (ie red line in stats).

I see more this codex as an alternative Gold Codex (Or in the future Platinium) as the one of Kotrin for Necron.

I need also to improve the english level, I will try and post again.

For now it has tested only by me, but codex is very Yound and need I think some corrections.

I will continue on this way,
Jean

Kalia,

I am going to be assisting Primarch in the capacity of Army List Champion (Self assigned title, I have no authority whatsoever).

I will take a look at this and expect some announcements on the forums and Facebook soon.

For NetEpic Gold, the army books are "Frozen" for new content, however we will be assembling the oft delayed, "Optional Army Book". This book will by no means replace the originals or even be required reading, but I hope to cover the large majority of currently missing or significantly changed units covered in 5th-7th Ed, Imperial Armour and Horus Heresy. Much of the background work will be useful as part of the development of the next generations of NetEpic.

I will definitely be looking for significant amounts of help as the potential units come from over 500 different source books and magazines.

Thanks for your interest!

Hi!

This.

While the original promise of Gold is a "Frozen" rule set for new content, we CAN make an "optionals" book to inject things into.

Besides Admech, Grey Knights and a few others need to be done.

Thanks for interest,

You are right, I was not clear, this codex is not design to replace the gold one but be an optional one. I have edited the title and if needed can a Admin move this topic to the right place.

I have updated the codex with some price adjustment, add of some mechanized company card and improve a little the English level.

I have made 6 test games again Tyranids, and now it's time to test versus Squats.

Excellent work - an up to date army list for the Ad-Mech is top of my wishlist for NE:Platinum and from a quick look at your work you've made a great start at it, capturing lots of the more interesting units out there and keeping the older ones in too!

I'll see if i can get get the chance to play test it and let you know my findings!

Nice with an update.

But I do question a few of the units and their costs. The infantry and light artillery seems quite cheap compared to some of the existing lists. Overall it seems decently balanced when just reading it without testing it. It seems very flexible and a tad on the powerful side, as in I am uncertain what the weakness is compared to an imperial guard list. It seems to do everything just as well or a bit better without the command structure drawback.

Just my initial 5 cents

Good stuff! Definitely makes it easier for me to keep moving on other armies!

Hi!

This is very cool!

Should I upload it to the Epicentre?

Thanks for your feedbacks !

For the price of infantry and light artillery, I have compared the price with similar units on other armies. I think a big weakness is the lack of air units. But I keep in mind the balance with a guard list.

I will continue test on my side, so I prefer to not upload in Epiccentre for now. (There is also small layout adjusment I want to make)

I took a long look and really liked what I saw. I did notice two oddities though. On the Ordinatus Minorii with the turbolasers and Plasma, each has 3 attack dice. The basic titan weapon only has two. I am a great believer that the weapon shouldn't be better on something else. I'd love to see more of the Minorii though, I'm going to try to make some for one of my homemade chaos knight lists.
