I am having the same problem. However, the site that you end up on are the hosts of the NetEpic site. So, I dont think that there is anything beyond a temporary hosting problem. It should be resolved soon, I guess.

Hi Guys,

Apparently someone has reported the EPICentre as being a front for a hacking company, as laughable as it sounds they had to shut down the site whilst legal proceedings take place to clear our name.

Have no fear; it is just some malicious individual having fun with us. We just need to let them check over our logs and then give us the all clear once we have proved that the EPICentre is purely 6mm wargaming.

It is a bit annoying, but alas, in this day and age ISP's do have to take these precautions.

I'll keep you updated.

It is very interesting that you can get shut down with out evidence of you doing any wrong?  Doesn't bode well for the Internet if guilty until proven innocent line is taken.   ???

Personally I would raise a complaint with the ISP, especially if they took it on their own shoulders to shut you down rather than asking someone else to investigate (e.g. Police or similar) before hand.

If there hand was forced by an investigative body I would complain to them.  I'm sure they should have to offer some sort of evidence of wrong doing before taking action.

If they did that, then the hackers have at least a few days lee-way before they could be shut down. How much damage could they do by then?

True, but I still don't like the idea of having to prove you've not done something wrong.   Goes against the whole innocent until proven guilty ethos.

Can you claim hosting fees back I wonder?  For the period of down time..

Is it a US based hosting site by any chance?

And that is the crux of the problem of dealling with "bad people".

The easier you make it to catch them the more innorcent people have to suffer from a heavy handed approach.

If you take a softly softly approach the "bad people" (why can't I think of a better discription for them?) get away with more because they isgnore the laws.

Good point. Hackers can do tremendous damage in only a few days. Even though it goes agains my belief in "innocent until proven guilty", in this case it is better to err on the side of caution.

In any case, this has taught me the lesson to download things instead of assuming the website will always be available when I want it.

Many apologies, we do our upmost to ensure 100% uptime, but unfortunately there will always be downtime for every website :(.

I do recommend downloading though, it saves our bandwidth in the long run too ;).

I downloaded almost all the files I could as soon as I found the site so I'm ok

It's very much appreciated as well NetEpic, all the time taken to get the site up and running and staying there.

No need to apologize. I'll download stuff as soon as the site is back up.

What we really need is an ability to claim for slander against the people that make accusations. Then people would only enter into this kind of problem if they were sure that they had their facts correct.

Ahh well...
