When people are reading a magazine or website, do you prefer to read it in a font that has serifs (such as Times New Roman) or one which is sans-serif (such as my personal favourite, Verdana)?

I'm having a mess-around with an old version of Incoming! so see if I can make a format people are more happy with, and which appears to be more professional. If you have any suggestions, please feel free to drop them in here :)

I had exactly the same question when I started Warp Rift. In the end I went for Verdana. There is research on both side, but I read a lot that sans-serif was generally easier to read.
Does this mean that you are taking up the reigns of Incoming?

nope he isnt but he is part of the team.

What we were looking at was a format change so Warmaster Nice and Dysartes have been given the current issue to play around with and see what they come up with.

I did a format change only as far as making Incoming more presentable, and that was only 3 issues ago. Unfortunately with lack of time etc, I wasnt able to learn more about publisher 2003 to take advantage.  Seen as we will be a team of four at my last count, we can not only address format issues but also the articles issue.  At least I wont be on my own!

Your comments on the 40k usage when lacking articles is a good idea, although considering incoming is mainly for Epic I would like to minimise that option as much as possible.  Thanks for the suggestion though!

Generally speaking Sans sarifs (Or grotesques) are more used in magazines and small publications.

Another question is how people prefer the magazine's phisical proportions: Do you prefer a mag where each page fills the entire screen (which also makes it a bit easier too reads IMO) or do you want a printer friendly version with standard A4/Letter format.
An interesting question is how many people actually print out the mag?
Some programs allow us to add interactive content (like animated battlereports, movie clips etc.) but of course that's a no go for a printed mag.

Cheers! :)
