Thoughts....

Crisis battlesuits. I suggest that they need not all be armed the same in a formation. mix em up. Also allow more than 4 per unit, so if I want 5 then I can etc. Much less restrictive that way.

Been considering mixing up differently armed attack bikes, land speeders and other units in the marine list, so definitely something that could work.

I guess we could also include a few extra variants of battle suits now as I think they have a few more weapon options.

Hi!

I think allowing mixes is a good idea.

Anything that increases the flexibility of what players have in their collections needs to be perused.

In one way it will help trim things down by only having single entries for all of a single stand or vehicle type, but will make army building take a little longer since people will basically have to build up detachments stand by stand.

Hi!

I think the trade off is acceptable. Player need to get the most out of thier collections. This is the way to do it.

We could off "short cut" in the way of some "stock" formations like the ones from Gold, but keep the "model by model" method as default.

How about making them more generic? Maybe just have 1 set of stats, no matter what the actual model is armed with, lets face it they are so small that it would be easy to get them mixed up anyway.

Formation wise, how about a small formation of 4 as standard with the option of adding "X" amount of extra suits, and with the option of adding a commander?

The broadsides would be clearly different and would be in their own specialist formation as normal, but maybe we could vary the amounts as above for them too?

From a model perspective, I doubt it matters what model you use, like you said they are so small, but from a gameplay perspective, I think there needs to be diversity in the stats to represent load outs that covers anti tank, anti infantry, short range, long range etc.

For armies like Tau, Eldar, Nids and Orks (plus others), we have a lot more scope of varying detachment sizes as they aren't as structured as marines and guard, so many of the detachment entries will say something like "3-6 stands at X pts per stand", so lots of flexibility in those armies.

Short cutting stock formations I think is a good way of doing things, it then lets players play with as much or as little customisation as they want. Although when people have got into the game and played more, they will all develop their own formations and have them pointed up and ready to go.

Hi!

The homogenization of stats is probably not going to fly with most net epic gamers. ;)

However listing a stat line as "default", even when variants are listed can achieve what you intend. :)

Bump because new units have come out like the Ghostkeel and Supremacy armor and I hate seeing this not on the front page.

What am I supposed to do here anyway?

Agree with the mates you play with on a reasonable set of rules and unit price and keep on trucking?
