Kroot Kindred are available as a support formation in the main Tau list, although there is no option for them to be core.

Maybe a Tau Auxiliary list could be created?

In the meantime, maybe you could use the 30k Imperial Militia list? http://epicau.com/mw/index.php/Imperial_Militia. It is a flexible list with the addition of provenances, and I can see the Feral Warrior upgrade going a long way to represent Kroot.

There is a fan list

Remain VERY KEEN for some extra support beasts for the Avians.
Beasts of cargo. Beasts as gun platforms. Beasts for general mayhem.
Like the dogs/wolves but can't quite get away from dogs chase birds at the park.

Realise inspiration follows where it will. My own painting/modelling desk top is
a constant reminder.

Ditto, what epic Kroot players would really like are Avian beasts.
Mastiff sized Hunting beasts, cavalry beasts with Riders, larger beasts with pintel mounted heavy gun and single rider/gunner, and tank sized beasts with a rider and a gunner and pintel mounted heavy gun/missiles. Maybe even a war engine sized Avian dragon-like flyer with rider +/- missiles.
All importantly with that Avian look/common ancestry.
Hope you find some time in the near future to get something done about this...

A thing that I'm doing, with all the 6mm Aliens available now. From CinC, Onslaught, Microworld, etc., many can be Tau Allies/Auxiliaries. Also in the original SM1 rules, and we still use many of those, Chaos could have Ork Freebooterz/Mercs. I use some of the other Aliens available today to fill that slot as well.

For what rules to use ... I'm a K.I.S.S. Fan ... Many aliens I just use SM stats ... But nothing says you can't write up some rules for you local gaming crew for other aliens. But again K.I.S.S. Or better yet Do What Works For U.

You can think out of the "GW box". Commissars and the =][= will not be showing up to where you are gaming to see how and what that you are using to play Epic ... ^-^

And I'm going waaay off the GW tomes. And making an Alien Galaxtic Legion with many of the different 6mm Aliens being made today. It's a BIG Galaxy ... there are more aliens out there beyond what is in GW 40K "fluff". Which changes frequently ... 8)
