My thoughts were that the pilot should be standing behind the gunner (possibly on a raised platform) and piloting it like the vampire gliders (ie, I envision steering and acceleration being controlled more by foot position, posture and balance than "controls").

The pilot sits in the front compartment on all these skimmers so cannot be seen.

It certainly looks very destroy-ee! The Stygian-like style was never my thing (weirdly), but I've definitely warmed to them thanks to great minis like this one.
