Command and HQ are two different, but important, abilities.

Command means that the model does not receive an order counter as it automatically moves as if on Charge and fires as if on First Fire.

HQ means that the model can only be targeted if it is the closest model of that Pinning Class to the shooter, or is more than 10cm away from the nearest allied model of that Pinning Class.

Thus the Captain (and his Rhino) should probably have both, if you are trying to be equivalent to NetEpic Gold Marines. The Lieutenant should probably have HQ but not Command.


Interesting stat sheets there, a couple of immediate things that seem like errors/typos.

You do not have an entry for "Captain".

Should replace all entries in the Special Abilities column that say "+1 to Morale tests" with "Inspirational" as that is the ability that does that.

Should replace all entries under Special Abilities that say "+1 to close assault factor" with "Combat Leader" as that is the ability that does that.

For the moment, I'm assuming that the Captain has the stats on the back of the Legio Astares Company card, plus the Command Ability, that the Rhino that comes with the Captain also has Command and HQ, and that the Lieutenants (and their Rhinos) have neither.

OK, then points values for the components of the Legio Astares Company, and the Company itself, are: [Note, these are using all current tweaks.]

Tactical stand:
Model Type: 1 (Infantry)
Movement: 2.75 (Terrain) * 2 (10cm) * 1 (ground, no mods) = 5.5
Armor Save: 3 (6+)
CAF: (Base: 1 (Model) + 2.75 (Terrain) + 2 (10cm) + 1 (foot) - 5 (balance) = 1.75) 1.75 * 2 = 3.5
Bolters: 2 (direct fire) * 1 (50cm) * 1 (AD) * 1 (5+) * 1 (TSM 0) = 2
SA: 0 (none)
Total cost: 1 + 5.5 + 3 + 3.5 + 2 + 0 = 15
Morale adjustment: Morale 2 = +20% so 15 * 1.2 = 18

Support stand:
Model: 1
Move: 2.75 * 2 * 1 = 5.5
Save: 3
CAF: 3.5
Flamers: 2 (direct fire) * 0.5 (25cm) * 1 (AD) * 1.5 (4+) * 1 (TSM 0) * 1.5 (Ignores Cover) = 3
SA: 0
Total: 1 + 5.5 + 3 + 3.5 + 3 + 0 = 16
Morale 2: 19.2 (16 * 1.2)

Lieutenant stand:
Model: 1
Move: 2.75 * 2 * 1 = 5.5
Save: 3
CAF: 1.75 * 3 * 1.5 (Elite) = 7.875
Bolters: 2 (as Tactical)
SA: 0 (Elite is included in CAF)
Total: 1 + 5.5 + 3 + 7.875 + 2 + 0 = 19.375
Morale 2: 23.25 (19.375 * 1.2)

Captain stand:
Model: 1
Move: 2.75 * 2 * 1 (ground) * 2 (Command) = 11
Save: 3
CAF: 1.75 * 5 * 1.5 = 13.125
Bolters: 2 (direct) * 1 (50cm) * 2 (AD) * 1 (5+) * 1 (TSM 0) * 1.5 (Command) = 6
SA: 10 (HQ) + 10 (Inspirational) = 20
Total: 1 + 11 + 3 + 13.125 + 6 + 20 = 61.625
Morale -- = +40% or * 1.4 so: 86.275

Rhino:
Model: 6 (vehicle)
Move: 1.75 * 5 (25cm) * 1 (ground) = 8.75
Save: 9 (4+ is 3 points of save times 3 per point: 3 * 3 = 9)
CAF: 0 (CAF 0)
SA: 1.0125 (PD1) + 5.625 (Transport 2 Infantry 1/1, LightArtillery 1/2) = 6.6375
Total: 6 + 8.75 + 9 + 0 + 6.6375 = 30.3875
Morale 2: 36.46

Command Rhino:
Model: 6
Move: 1.75 * 5 * 1 * 2 (Command) = 17.5
Save: 9
CAF: 0
SA: 10 (HQ) + 1.0125 (PD1) + 10.125 (Transport 2 I1/1, LA 1/2, Command) = 21.1375
Total: 6 + 17.5 + 9 + 0 + 21.1375 = 53.6375
Morale --: 64.36

Company contains 36 models, BP of 18.
Captain: 1
Command Rhino: 1
Lieutenant: 2
Tactical: 16
Support: 4
Rhino: 12

Ablation group consists of 18 non-Command models. Taking half of each model type comes to 17, thus we add one of the most expensive model which in this case is a Rhino, thus:
Tactical: 8 * 18 = 144
Rhino: 7 * 36.465 = 255
Support: 2 * 19.2 = 38.4
Lieutenant: 1 * 23.25 = 23.25
Sub-total for Ablation group: 461 (144 + 255 + 38.4 + 23.25)
Modified by Break Point (half = 0.75): 346 (461 * 0.75)

Broken group consists of the remaining models:
Tactical: 8 * 18 = 144
Rhino: 5 * 36.465 = 182
Support: 2 * 19.2 = 38.4
Lieutenant: 23.25
Captain: 86.275
Command Rhino: 64.365
Sub-total for Broken group: 539 (144 + 182 + 38.4 + 23.25 + 86.275 + 64.275)
Modified by Morale (most are M2, Captain and Command Rhino are --): 299 (T/R/S/L: 388 * 0.5 = 194, Captain & Command Rhino: 194 * 0.7 = 105; 194 + 105 = 299)

Thus Company total cost is 645 (Ablation 346 + Broken 299 = 645)

Brilliant Magnus the process is a lot clearer now thank you. 645 quite a cheap company card.

In answer to your question
A captain is a centurion in the legion I just didn't change the card because it was about 1:30am when I posted the stats.

Captain (on card) = Centurion (on list). Gotcha.

One issue with the Centurion on the list. It has a Special Ability called "special abilities". Is this a typo, or does it have more abilities that are not listed? If it has more, then it will be more expensive, thus changing the cost of the Company.

645 is actually fairly pricy for a (Rhino based) Mechanized Infantry Company with the most recent tweaks. I guess I should post the lists I've gotten through so far so you guys have something to compare with.

Cancel 'special ability' it is copied from another document that is incorrect. I think a lot of the cards will reduce massively in cost which means forces will be bigger than ever! Cool.

Well as they were mostly complete PFA the proposed company cards for Legio Astartes in the Age of Darkness,

Please note that the final costing is yet to be completed and the Malcador formation has yet to receive stats.

First company morale value is 1 but text says they need a 2.

Are you planning to differentiate between different vehicle variants (such as proteus and demios) or does a land raider = a land raider?

Those weapon ranges seem too long too ;)

I think I'm going to be painting up some heresy era models next now. :)

Thanks Primarch, I've had a look and have some loose ideas, I'll see if they are similar to yours.

Matty, thanks for the feedback it doesn't happen much but when it does it is hugely appreciated especially with typos. I am originally just going with the Proteus Land Raider and Predator Destructor, the problem with the formula is that if I was to offer for example an upgrade to a detachment/s it would effect the cost of the unit in relation to how many you change so each card would have potentially 5 different values depending on the make up of the card. That is just with the Annihilator Pattern offered. I am thinking to keep the company as Destructors with support cards consisiting of the different classes. To have the basic option as the company and the more specialised variants as support seem a reasonable theory as the other variants were less prevalent throughout the Legions when compared to the Destructor variant.

I have the same idea with Land Raiders, Proteus as the basic unit with Helios (pos) and Achilles as support cards, again just purely for the fact that the legions had more Proteus models than the others.

However, when it comes to the Legion specific cards previewed on my other Heresy thread I don't see a reason why for example the Iron Warriors wouldn't have more Annihilator Pattern Predators and Achilles than the other variants. This would allow unique formations to be made available for specific chapters to further cement their identities.
