Well, now that I know that txt files cannot be uploaded, I guess I should have changed the language on "... cannot be...", but forgot.

Actually, thinking about it a bit more the Assault ability should probably be an ability for the base vehicle rather than a modifier for Transport. Probably 15 points. What do you guys think about it?

Yeah, just have it as an ability rather than a modifier. Will have to ponder the 15 points.

Anyway, back to talking about 30k ;)

Quick one on the point calculator when you have multiple modifiers for abilities for example fear and elite do you multiply be each one individually and in what order at do you it or add them together to make one modifier?

The order they applied in should not matter, but each modifier is it's own adjustment. Except where noted otherwise, all modifiers are applied sequentially rather than adding them then multiplying.

To use (and expand a bit on) your example, say you have a model with a CAF of +5 that has both Fear and Elite. Using the "base" system the cost for it's CAF would be: 4 (base cost) *5 (CAF) *1.5 (Fear) *1.5 (Elite) = 20 *1.5 *1.5 = 30 *1.5 = 45. If you had added the adjustments together before multiplying, then the result would be 60, and this is too high.

Good catch, I'll have to put in a note about this near the beginning of the document.

I was thinking about legendary formations a bit like 40k were there is a set list to represent a legendary unit for example the 3rd company imperial fists 'sentinels of terra'. It would be a set formation with a total points value that a player could choose. Thoughts?

I can dig it. You're thinking of this being internally balanced not externally, right? If so then famous units from other legions would be kickass like the IH Morlocks or that group from the Alpha Legion that specializes in terror tactics.

Well, the old Space Marine Battles book did have rules (and cards) for five unique Specials. Specifically: Commissar Yarrick, Ghazghkull Thraka, Ragnar Blackmane, Njal Stormcaller, and Ulrik the Slayer. Thus there are stats for these for Epic, even though they be from 2nd edition. Admittedly, NetEpic is based off of 2nd, so they should be good enough. I can post details if needed.

Cheers magnus, I've got them. I was thinking along the lines of a set army you can select for your force it includes the company, support and special card(s). So one formation made of 1 company card, 1-5 support cards and a special (maybe). If you choose to use this 'legendary formation' you recieve a buff. Some sort of special rule that enhances the whole unit, they will act independently as per netepic but will offer a reward for picking it. Again just for example.

Catachan Devils = 1 imperial guard infantry company with chimera in support and heavy weapons platoons totalling 5 support cards worth. You pay one price for all of them and gain a rule maybe about movement not being affected by difficult terrain.

Or a space marine company formation that all cards attached to it gain deep strike or all transports gain assault vehicle(pending).

It could also be a special card added to a company formation and applied to all attached support cards so instead of a titan or chaplain you could select jungle specialists or street fighters. Rules would need to be written for these or the group could be given a current special rule.

Like the idea of prebuilt "legendary" armies, wonder what there is in the 40k era, will have to check the forge world books.
