It was suggested we develop rules for the Chaos Death Wheel and Decimators for NetEpic (seeing decent proxies might become available :) ) and submit them to Incoming. ?So who's up on what they should be like?

Decimator = Baneblade type capabilities...maybe H-Bolters instead of the backup Lascannons? ?Slightly higher CAF and 2+ armour maybe, but still Superheavy.

Death Wheel - is this a Superheavy or is it Praetorian class? ?High CAF, maybe an upgraded Deathroller ability (destroy vehicle class and below on a 3+?), mobile, must always make a full advance move, firepower maybe equal to 2 Baneblades?

I've not seen or heard of the Decimator, so that sounds pretty good.

As to the Death Wheel, I'm not a fan of it myself.  It frankly seems a bit goofy for Chaos to me, something I could see the Orks doing but not Chaos.  If you do decide to include it, then make it a small Praetorian (like the Plague Tower).  It looks like its about that size.

With Void Shields and "firepower" attacks apparently.  I'm thinking small Praetorian, Void shields, modified Death Roller etc. ?  Front Template is going to be simple :)

I agree that Praetorian class would be appropriate. I forget, do they have Void Shields in E:A?

Ahem... please remember that Land Train has void shields too. And it isn't a praetorian. The size of a model can't be used to judge its class. Consider cramming a whole company of guard models into a Leviathan model.   Or 5 stands of Berserkers into a land train battlecar for that matter. :D

Death Wheel does have DC4 in E:A while Warhound has DC3, true. But Baneblade has DC3 as well and it isn't a praetorian.  :;):

OK, good point Mojarn.  Just a Superheavy with a couple of Void shields then do you think?  Would make it heaps simpler.  Off the top of my head (and consciously avoiding any special rules):

Doom Wheel   25cm  1+  CAF 8   Lascannon 75cm 2 5+ -2, Hvy Bolter 25cm 4 5+ 0
- Superheavy, Void Shields (2), Deathroller, Fear

Special Card (standard Chaos list)  Morale -, break 1, VP3, Cost 250.  (or we could up the firepower and make it more expensive)

Decimator 5cm 1+ (All round) CAF 6  Decimator Cannon 100cm 1 4+ -3 *, Hvy Bolter 25cm 4 5+ 0 **
- Superheavy, *Penetrating(1), **Turret

Support card (Standard Chaos list) Morale 3, break 1, VP2, Cost 200.

How's that sound?

Those stats look good to me. Mojarn does have a valid point: superheavy is fine by me.

Sounds good.

I'm just wondering whether both should be 2 per card like Warhounds.

Since they're Superheavies, I say keep them as one per card, unless you can think of a fluffy reason why they would normally operate in pairs.

I agree with DS, as Standard list units they'd be more likely to be one per card due to the irregular nature of the "LatD" type list.  Though we could do a Special card for the Black Legion with 2 Death Wheels perhaps?

I'll talk to OzTenaka and might see if we can put out a 5.3 Chaos army book in anticipation of the Gold book?

OK, ran them on Friday (will post a full report when I get some Bandwidth back on Wednesday).

Didn't get to see much of the Decimator as it missed its' first shot then got vapourised by Magnus (war in Hell), but I think it looks fairly conservative but still a useful and useable addition to Chaos.

The Death Wheel is seriously under-done though.  Compare to a Warhound with TLD and VMB for the same points and it just wouldn't get played.  So, we came up with two possible options (staying special card at 250 points):

1 (big shooter):  Doom Wheel   30cm  1+  CAF 8   Lascannon 75cm 4 4+ -2, Hvy Bolter 25cm 4 5+ 0
- Superheavy, Void Shields (2), Deathroller, Fear

2: (alrounder): Doom Wheel   30cm  1+  CAF 10   Lascannon 75cm 2 5+ -2, Autocannon 50cm 4 5+ -1
- Superheavy, Void Shields (2), Deathroller, Fear

Option 1 is a slightly detuned "Warhound with twin TLDs" long range shooter type unit.  Chaos can always use some of these.  Option 2 is sort of a beefed up Questor Scout Titan.  I think either would be fine.....votes?

Also we thought perhaps the Black Legion list could get a Company Card of 3 of them?

I think fear is a little too much...chaos titans do not cause fear but are terrific too...

I think a 12 metre high wheel rolling toward me might make me a little aprehensive :D.
