OK, now that NetEpic has released v5, I think it's time to revisit an old project of mine.  Namely, revising, and "codifying" the fluff for NetEpic.

What I'd like to do, is to put together a single "book" of fluff for NetEpic, covering the whole kit and kaboodle, from pre-Emperor to the current 40K era.  This then could be used as side bars for later Gold type releases of NetEpic (rules and more likely army books), and as a background setting, providing creative players with campaign and battle ideas.

Now, as we all know, GW tends to retcon the latest and greatest stuff into their fluff, which leads to all sorts of continuity errors, and outright contradictions.  They also have a tendency to revise ad hoc seemingly stuff from edition to edition.  This has given me wuite a head ache, as it was in great part the fluff that attracted me to the GW games in the first place.

So, where to start?  I see this has been brought up twice before, and there's a nice Horus Heresy time line posted.  What I'd like to do is to get all the GW fluff, and organize it, then reconcile the discrepencies and contradictions.  Then we add to it, filling out gaps, and altering things as needed to fit the NetEpic universe (read Army Lists).

I've got a lot of the old stuff myself, up through Epic: 40K, and 2nd Edition 40K.  What I'm missing is the more recent stuff, and lots of stuff from CJ and WD.

that brings us up to starting.  What I'd be looking for:

1. Volunteers for each race, to coordinate and edit.
2. Copies of fluff from recent 40K, Epic:A, WD, and CJ articles.
3. Primarch to stop laughing at me for bringing this up again..(I know you are P!)
4. Artists to render images of various selected scenes
5. Map maker, or an "offcial" cartographer for NetEpic

I'm sure there are a 1,000 things I'm forgetting at the moment, but this'll do for now...

Does this mean we can finally dump the Machine god for good and return to the good ol' times when that abomination didn't exist? Please?

Hi!

Sounds good to me, whatever comes of this I can squeeze into a new fluff book for netepic.

We can probably coax Ferran to do some art and maps so the last two seem to be the easiest. :)

I really like the idea of this. It would be nice to have one set of coherent, nonredundant fluff.

I volunteer my services for editing. I don't have all of the fluff necessary for this project, but if provided with it, I would be more than happy to apply my skills.

If I have a choice, I would like to work on Squats. (Any surprises that I chose Squats :D :p )

The Horus Heresy Fluff we have so far is based on the NetEPIC Timeline from the site, I would welcome the opportunity to work on the Imperials during the Heresy. Then I can alter my fiction to ensure it is canon.

Flattery will get you nowhere...  :alien:

Here's what I have:
4th edition 40k book
Rogue Trader
All new codexes except Tyranids
White Dwarf magazines from 256 on

It goes without saying that I _won't_ infringe copyright by providing scans of said material.  :;):  However, given time I can comb the material for any interesting fluff tidbits. Emphasis being on the "given time" part.

In the meantime, PM if you want anything specific.

I'd be quite interested in mapmaking of some sort- sounds like fun! :D

Greetings.  Any scans/whatever provided to me I think would fall under fair use, as I don't want the rules or images.  Then, whatever I distill from those bits is going to be rewritten to conform with the NetEpic time line.  Not to mention the usual copyright notices that get included.

I'm going through the on site stuff now.  I'm taking more of "historians" approach to the fluff, rather than a writers approach.  So hopefully, things will have a logical "cause and effect" flow to them.  It'll seem very, very dry at first, but as long as we have acive fiction writers on board, we can give key events a great deal of flavor and feel.

Maybe.  Kinda.  Sort of.  Well, not really.   :p

But I do foresee altering the back story bits of the Machine God.  Think Paranoia.
The computer is your friend.
The computer has only your best interests at heart.
Now go test this atomic hand grenade in that closed room over there...
Throw in a little "Zardoz" and we'll just about have it..

Well, if you want to volunteer, I won't stop you.   :alien:

What I'm looking for:
1. General galactic map.  This should show the regions, and who controls them, as well as significant spacial features, like the Eye of Chaos.  Should also show the boundaries of the Astronomicon.
2. Regional maps based on each race.  So, one map showing the Eldar controlled worlds, one for the Orks, one for the stubbies, etc.
3. More detailed Imperial maps.  These will be the most intense.  I'd ideally like to have one showing the adminstratum zones, one with the military commands, one for the Adeptus Astartes, one for the Ministorium, and one "economic" showing resources and trade routes.

#1 is primary ATM.  From that all others ahll flow.  Once we have that, we can beging to fill in the details, and get the ball rolling as we progress along the time line.

I did forget a few things... :80:

I'll also need a coordinator for the following races:
1. Tau/Kroot (I know next to nothing about them)
2. Slaan
3. Tyranids
4. Necrons (may be merged with Slaan)
