:p ?Ok, I shouldn't have been reading about a new army but I did. :-: ?. Now I got interested in the Slaan. What minis can I use (also the Necrons)? Can anyone guide me in the right direction?

I like EA but it is in to much flux lately so I have been trying Net-Epic. So far so good. I like parts of EA better but they want things to restricted, besides I like big battles and for the most part believe a commander in the field will use whatever is available.

"Commander Real looked at the volcano cannon sitting in the newely entered warehouse. Three weeks of fighiting ?had finally gained a foothold in the outskirts of [insert city name]. "If only I had some more effecient weapons" ?he pondered to himself. As he walked through the vast structure, He said to sgt. codex... "not one boltgun, Rhino or Land Raider to be found" ... as he leaned up against an Eldar 'wave serpent', he said "Sh--t! wish I could find just one thing in the book that I could use...."
:p

Hi!

Slann and Necrons in Netepic follow a different "fluff" from GW's. So our proxy choices stem from that.

Slann in netepic use "battlesuits", which are basically dreadnought sized suits which are very powerful. We have recommended the Battletech power armored infantry line of minis for those. They have a whole slew of them so the variety makes simulating different types quite good.

For necron vehicles we recommend the models from this link:

http://www.mondayknight.com/Home3.htm

The terran vehicles were the ones used.

Davion and Kurita infantry from battletech make good humanoid proxies although the GZG infantry packs gives you excellent choices as well.

Do you play Slaan? Does anyone on here have a Slaan Army? I can use any help I can get.

Does anyone play Smurfs?  :p  Sounds like a fun army? Not sure about the peanuts though.  :D

I haven't played vs an opponent yet but I am tending to use Net-Epic instead of EA. At least for a while.

Hi!

I have a LARGE slann army, you can see it a Tuff's old website:

http://epic40k.com/EPIC40k/

Follow the links: Your armies - Peter Ramos' HUGE armies - Slann Madness for a good look at all the proxies I use.

This army list for net epic is 4 years old, tested and played by netepic epic members all over the world. It works. :)

I'm at your service for any help you may need on building this proxy army.

I will take all the help I can get.
The link doesn't work.
I want to find background, proxies and anything else. It may be January before I can actually buy anything but I can make a list of what I need and where to get it. :p

http://netepic.org/INCOMIN....d&cid=5

It contains, fluff, rules and proxy recommendations.

Its a good place to start. :)

I have the list and the link works now. Thanks.
I can't really make out the figs used. And at a loss on some of the proxie suggestions. Are these compamies still in business? I want to get minis for the Slann and necrons.
Please suggest some sources.
Is your background totally different from 40k?

I just sorted out a large box of minis and have one  or two more coming. I should have most (at least the grunts) of six chapters when I get it all together. Think there will be a shortage of devastators, Assault marines and Terminators.

Also Orks, Eldar, Imperial Guard, Squats and Chaos. The Slaan / Necrons are on priority for finding minis.

I haven't had time to read everything. Is there a suggested color sceme for these guys?

Hi!

Most of the stuff is still available, although some is OOP, for the moment, although Monday Knight Games is supposed to fill in the gaps soon.

The netepic background for slann and necron is different from the GW one. I'll prepare a more detailed response.

I have been looking thru the different manufactures lists. Most have photos. I like a lot of "Dark Star" stuff as well as "Battle Tech". Thinking of making an order. Probabaly go with True Slaan and Necron first. Company cards with a bit of the other stuff.

Is there any set convention about which figs to use? I saw some that just say "Slaan or Necron" to me. I never realized the number of different 6mm sci-fi figs there were. Can still use any help that you can give.

Hi!

No set convention. This is netepic epics only FULL proxy army list. You decide what to use, everything is mere recommendations. Heck, if you find something interesting let me know, I might want some for my army! :)

For battlesuit infantry the best are the BT power armor series. There are so many variants that you can just choose the ones you like best for the troop type you wish to emulate. For infantry, GZG pan-african troops are good humanoid irregular troops and power armor ones are good for some specialist troops in the exodite slann list.

Pendraken makes some Sci-fi lizardmen with tech weapons that are PERFECT for Dracons.

primarch> You planning on doing an updated inventory this century? I imagine you're a bit beyond what you had in the last one.....

Hi!

I'm awaiting for all the IG to come back from the painters (a process that is in its 2 year!), to commence the updated inventory.

I suspect that this new year, 2005, will mark the offical end of the IG/SM expansion.

So I suspose sometime this new year I can do it. :)

It will take me about a month to do though..... :p

A Month? Mad.

Is the format in the link you posted the method you'd recommend for doing inventories, or have you seen a better way?

Hi!

When I did the first one it took 7-9 days dedicated about 8 hours per day on vacation.

Now, if I did it on non-vacational time it would very likely take a month to do!

I havent found a better way of doing it... yet.

I suspect using excel would be much better than the way I did it.
