Thanks both, that's much appreciated! Orks are next (I've been working on that today) - expect that to drop on 2nd September and then the Squats will be the following month!

Squats! The big one we've been waiting for! (Or small one I guess :D )

;D ;D ;D

Orks are definitely next but I promise the Squats special will be the episode after that! It's nice to see I'm not the only one that has a lot of affection for them!

I really love the concept of Squats in Epic - think I remember a comment from Jervis Johnson saying really they were much better realised in that scale, with the big war machines, tunneling devices and things like that. All things that were never really presented at all in 28mm scale.

I did have an Epic army back in the day and really regret having sold it (I was a student and needed the money, things were desperate!) But am looking forward to repopulating them with some of the new Onslaught miniature range, plus some other bits and pieces that are available from other manufacturers.

Oh man, I'm gutted to read this! On the other hand, I do envy those of you who buy Onslaught and Troublemaker minis because they're absolutely top notch! If I didn't hate painting so much, I'd be tempted to go crazy on all that their minis!

This was great, it'll be a shame that the next one is the last one - do you have anymore Epic content planned?

Yes, lets hope for some more Epic material ;) And thanks for a nice podcast about the Squats.

What was the reason for choosing the Ironbreaker company? Maybe the "cost" is different in 2nd ed, can't remember what that used to be compared to Gold, but sometimes I'm surprised about the company cards, its content, and what you get for it.
Of course you need some company cards to build your army, but some of the company cards just seem a bit pointless since they in best case cost the same as the separate support/special cards would.

For the Ironbreaker company it feels like you basically pay a bit more compared to what you would if you took them as separate cards (Netepic gold rules).

Apologies for the delay in replying - thank you for listening and providing such warm words! The Tyranid episode is the penultimate one as we are planning a "Questions from the Community" special after that. Probably the thing I'll spend most time talking about on that is Net Epic because I've been asked throughout why I favour and think it improves 2nd Edition, but if there's anything else you'd like us to answer, please fire on your questions!

Longer term, I'm currently focussing on writing the last book of my science fiction trilogy so things will go quiet over the coming months, but beyond that I will be adapting more of Caregadras' Beyond the Green River campaign on the Youtube channel - and that has a long way to go! In addition, I'm hoping next year that myself and Craig m999 can start making more Epic battle reports so hopefully there'll be plenty more to look forward to!

Thanks again for your support!

Hi Fangface, thanks for listening and excellent question! The Ironbreaker Company is 50 points cheaper in 2nd but I tend to ram all of my forces full of companies at any opportunity because of the Break Points for companies over support cards; because it is so much more difficult to break a company (especially for Squats) then it starves the opponent of getting any VPs on the board quickly and that can be quite demoralising. Of course, it's absolutely true that once they do go, the VP yield is far greater - but I've had games before where my Squats have taken horrendous losses without breaking and the opponent cannot believe how few VPs they've racked up!

I'm not saying that there's anything wrong with taking Support Cards btw, I just feel this strategy works well for me, but I'm sure others have plenty of success the other way! 8)

Hmm, yeah, when I look at the break points. Wow, I mean, just looking at Gold rules, am I missing something?
It says bp is 17 + model for the Iron Breaker C. If I count the number of infantry that is (1 warlord + 9 combat stands + 2 HG + berserker detachment (5 stands) -> 1+9+2+5 = 17).
So....that means you have to wipe them all out? I must be missing something? If not, then yeah, I can see why that company card is valuable.
I mean, no other company card containing infantry is that strong (except the IB Helbore company)?

Is it the same in 2nd edition? Sounds almost to good to be true :)
