I'm in the process of making counters for this game. Not sure if other people would use them so here is my first PDF of the white scar's chapter. PDF is for a banner printer but if people have interest in them I would redo them to A4 sheets. Sprites are ripped from vassal.

A few supports are still missing but will be added later. Just want feedback.

Reason for doing them is the current cost to play Net Epic. Its a bit high so this is a cheep work around. Ill be basing my counters on MDF. tis a cheep way of getting stuff on the board.

If this will attract the ire of GW ill remove them.

Myself and a friend are planning of doing the 3rd War of Armageddon so Orks and Imperials are to follow. Ill post up some better reports as well.

Having problems with the PDF as its 10MB. Ill chop it up.

Edit: Dropped them to A3 sheets.

I feel counters are for board games ... and minis for mini games ... But counters do have some good points. But I'm still sold on 3D minis with 3D terrain in this case. But I have played both board and mini games since distant youth. So I say, do what works for you ... ^-^

minis are simply counters, albeit very pretty and aesthetically pleasing ones.

Hi!

I think its a good compromise.

However note that there are more and more 3d designs being pumped out at a reasonable cost.

Although I'd agree the aesthetics may not be exactly "40-ish" due to IP concerns.

I think that is quite a good idea if you are struggling to find minis, it is just a different type of proxy. I would still want to pick up the miniatures at some point, but it allows you to play the game while getting your hands on the models over time. Sure people are filling the hole left by GW, but we are far from able to just pick up an army in one go from one shop (and it can be even trickier for new players trying to get their hands on things).

great counters check out the old battle for Armageddon / horus heresy board games they would be perfect if they had movement and attack values and if you used some of those rules. maybe you could use the planetary empires game tiles.

Thanks for the feedback.

I myself have about 5000pts of chaos from the time when you could still buy them and most of the unavailable stuff was filled with the legendary Otterman casts. Along side this I have 3000pts of Orks which is what i'v ran my demo games with. Both of the above armys are used to play E:A but lack alot of miniatures and items required for Epic Gold.

3 sheets of A3 paper gets me a full space marine chapter. For terrain iv got all the sprites out of the 40K Armageddon game. So it is going to look more like a board game than a war-game when finished.

Currently we are planning on running one game a month for a break from Warmachine.

Just need to cut a load of MDF bases now.

This is an interesting project. While I can't see many of us here using them as we have substantial armies, I think it would be a great resource to allow non-players of Epic to dip their toe in the water before committing to buying a load of minis.

More players is what we need so more power to you sir!

One two people are playing at my gaming club at the moment. With tokens available I hope to get a few more interested.

My gaming group has about 30 members plus our own permanent room so we can run large games over a number of days or weekends.

Looks quite similar to what I am doing with my games of Epic: Armageddon. I am just getting into Epic, and the collector's prices are driving me crazy. So my Titans, Gargants, Stompas and Knights are actual models, but all the troops are represented with repurposed vassal sprites.

I find it best fit for my situation where I need to provide the forces for both sides. I would have to be the one buying and painting everything I would ever want to see on a table, and that's prohibitively expensive nowadays.
