Hi there. I hope I'm posing in the right place, as I can't quite tell the difference between the net EPIC and EPIC Armageddon sections in these forums. I'm looking to start net EPIC. I haven't read the rules fully yet. There are oh so many pages, and I'm unwilling to print them all. I would like to be able to read them on my kindle (for my first read through). Does anyone have something in a compatible format that won't screw up all the text? |

Hi Bert, That is a great question, when we started the NetEpic Gold project Kindles didn't exist so we focused on high quality book style documents for printing. Having a low graphical version in a .MOB or compatible format is something we'll definitely have to look into. |

Honestly, there aren't that many pages to the rules - if you look at the NetEA Tournament Pack, there are only about 60 pages of actual rules, and that includes all of the FAQ footnotes! If you do double-sided printing, you're looking at only about 30 pages. As for a Kindle or other e-reader format, I don't think it will work - even without the images, you've got a lot of formatting in the layout of the rules. E-readers are made for reading a wall of text (i.e. a novel). In the rules, you've got bullet points, tables, diagrams, footnotes, etc. Trying to read this on any non-PDF compatible e-reader is going to make you want to murder your brain. Fake Edit: I see now that you're looking at the NetEpic rules. My above points still stand though - trying to rad through a non-formatted version is going to be terrible. |

You can read pdf on kindle. Not ideal but works. |

Yes, I was thinking something along these lines. At the moment the rulebook that I have found (which may actually be a tournament pack... it wasn't clear) is mostly in 12pt print. If a PDF is in 16 or 18pt print then it is probably readable on a kindle. I have read mobi files that can handle both bullet points and footnotes, however tables and diagrams are definitely an issue. Either the entire rule book, or just those specific sections could be adjusted to 18pt print so that they could be read in PDF format, while the remaining sections should be easy to convert into pure text format. @berzerkmonkey. I think it would be a fair bit of work to do, but considering the popularity of kindles and other devices it might be worth it. Although I am aware that if the current version works well on a tablet then maybe it isn't worth their time to make one. @netepic Thanks for letting me know. I look forward to hearing more about it. I actually decided to get back into EPIC after seeing the Exodus Wars miniatures on Amazon. I hope you don't mind but I've PMed you a question as I was having trouble getting through to Steel Crown Productions. |

The NetEA tournament pack says tournament pack on the front. Black text, white background. |

I did see one pdf that said net epic tournament pack but it signed to have a lot of the same text as in the first few pages of another version of the else book. I didn't set out to look for a specific rule set, rather I wanted to find the one most commonly played so I have a better chance of finding opponents who play the same rule set. Sorry for the confusion. @Apoco... Thanks for showing me and my thread around. ![]() |

Well, it's likely going to depend on where you live, first of all. Personally, I would try to find out what the local ruleset is, then go from there. There is no point learning the NetE:A version if the local group uses the Net Epic Gold rules. Protip - Put your location in your profile, so others in your area will have an easier time if they want to contact you. |
