In to the Adeptus Astartes I encounter this optional rule. It permit buy a company for 100 points less if you renunce to 9 Rhinos.

This can apply to a battle company and you can retire the landraiders?

9 Rhinos cost 150 points why you must get only 100 points?

Can you rest simply the cost of a detachment of vehicles to the company card?

And yes I have little vehicles.

Thanks.

In general there is a discount in company cards. You shouldn't therefore have the full discount and be able to get back the cost of each individual rhino detachment.

This I would say is the main reason behind this rule.

This optional rule is in there as a guide for people who want to do a non-mechanised Marine army. Pettan has it right regarding the discount. Also, it tries to prevent some dodgy things like people taking two footslogger Devestator companies in a 3000 point battle.

"This can apply to a battle company and you can retire the landraiders?"

I assume you mean a Terminator company. I can't see why not, but you'd be dropping a lot of firepower for a 100 point saving!

If we should try be realistic the points for 6 landraiders (considering that the HQ one should be for free) is in the vicinity of 500. Then why should the points drop be about 20% of their true value.
I for one have been looking at that Company Card and decided to skip it cause of the damn landraiders. In the old rules (I play with the new rule that the transports can leave their cargo) of transports staying close to the cargo its a pain to see landraiders in CC with the terminators or cowering at the feet of a big building with the terminators in the building itself.

I guess one can argue that the best marine warriors cant go in the same crappy transports as a normal marine but lets say that you want them in your thunderhawk. You still have to pay for their landraiders. If you compare with the eldar then you can easily find something cheap to transport in their thunderhawk like flyers but the only thing that doesn't have transports are the scouts in the marine army and they aren't really that good. And yes I know its really hard and crappy to compare different armies. Marines have their strengths and so on bla bla bla.

I will stop ranting.

Be well.

Yeah, the Terminator company is a hard one to use sometimes. They are awesome to defend objectives, but not that clever in an offensive role.

Nothing to stop you from coming up with your own Footslogger Terminator company houserules. You'd have to think around 700 points for the 13 stands.

There are other options to Scouts, but a lot depends on which chapter you play. I have a small Mentor Legion army and it has some really cool guys to go in a Thunderhawk! Silver Skulls and Space Wolves also have good options.
