I made some Summoning Cores (here) so I made some rules: here. I took the stats for the Monolith and tuned them down a bit to compensate for the extra benefits of the Summoning Core. In Dawn of War, Summoning Cores enable teleporting, so I gave them the Portal special ability; they also strengthen Necron warriors and Wraiths so I had a go at reflecting that as well.

Not playtested at all, my next game isn't for a month.

Thoughts?

Neat models. They'd look cool on the board with a Necron army. What is the Portal special ability though?

Not sure I agree with anything being able to affect a fixed save.....it is after all fixed.

My rules are based on Stephane's codex, which is here. Some Necron units have the "Portal" ability which lets certain units use them like they were stargates - into one, out of another, with a 5cm movement penalty.

If the community is using a different codex, I haven't found it (although Stephane does mention one).

As for the non-fixed fixed save, I always believed that the fixedness was intended to negate TSM, and to my mind, that doesn't prevent another effect *improving* the saving throw.

Hi Jodrell, zap is talking about the 5.2 Slaan Codex (here).

In the Slaan codex, necrons warriors do no have mostly have fixed save but have the "we'll be back special rule" granting them a regeneration roll in end phase. Kotrin's Necron choose to give them a fixed save but lose the regeneration roll.

I've read your rules for summonig core and after having playtested Kotrin's codex during 5 battles (5K, 6K, 3*3K) and having sent some feedback to him, here is my thoughts about the profile

- VP should be +3 (in Kotrin Codex)
- Armor is too strong, quite impossible to destroy it
- They give a too big advantage: can easy deny objectives to ennemy: take 3 in your army, teleport them on 3 different objectives and place some necron warriors around (mix flayed ones & immortals) -> extra bonus in CC, extra bonus on armor, enemy can't handle that. Gently place a tomb spider or a Necron Lord, this will grant even more bonuses. Off course, with some wraiths, they could become quite understructible (they already have a 4+ fixed armor save...).

Summoning cores are a nice idea but they grant too many bonus and may unbalance the list. Removing extra bonus and just keeping the portal & teleport ability, modifying armor save and eventually replacing weapons by PDs (4,,5, 6 ?) would already make it a good unit.

Hope this helps :)

Thanks for the feedback guys. My personal preference is for Stephane's codex so I'm sticking with that, but I've updated the document again: here. I removed the particle whip and gave it PD(6).
