Post subject:  lifta droppa and doomdiver magna-kannon

Hi,

I have two questions about the Ork COdex.

Fisrt, when a lifta droppa shoot a vehicle, if the vehicle miss it save it is lift and drop.
And in this case, the vehicle dropped is destroy. But when a lifta droppa shoot a superheavy and the superheavy miss it save, do we roll a d6 in the damage table of superheavy or not ?

Second, when a doomdiver magna-kannon shoot a superheavy flyer or a superheavy skimmer (like a tempest), the effects are the same of a flyer/skimmer (e.g. save at -2 TSM or smash into the ground) or the same of a superheavy (e.g. no effect) ?

Thanks for your responses...

Cédric

Lifta Dropper is clearly worded, the dropped model is "always destroyed".

Doomdiver is less unabiguously worded, though I'd suggest "smash into the ground" also sounds like completely dead, no superheavy table to me.

Ok

Ok but the rules of the doomdiver say :
If the target is a skimmer or flyer : make a save at TSM -2 or smash into the ground
If the target is a superheavy ou bigger : no effect.

So, if the target is a skimmer and a superheavy (like a tempest), which rule is applied ? the superheavy's rule (no effect) or the skimmer's rule (make a save at TSM -2 or smash into the ground) ?

Hi csuia :)

I'd say: if it's too big, doomdiver is not powerful enough to smach the target so superheavy just can't be handled. Skimmer or not.

If you do not place the limitation on SH (and over) for the doomdiver, you just get the best abattoir/aeonic orb/harbinger/... destruction machine. cost 50 points, LOS range and could destroy in a single shot a ~500/1000 points engin. I hardly imagine a doomdiver taking control of an abattoir and smashing it to the ground...Or smashing to the ground the flying titan of Tzeentch just because it's a flyer....

So, I talk about the SH because for me a pretorian/titan is never affect by doomdiver...

But against SH skimmer, I don't know. But, in my opinion, I said "No effect" (even it's a skimmer ^^).

But doomdiver is more a psychological weapon (and disuasive ^^) that a efficient weapon ^^. You have a unique shoot (and it's 5+ to hit).

Unlimited range, -2 TSM, 5+ To-Hit, 50 points, that's not what I call a psychologic weapon...

^^ I use it frequently and I can say to you that it is not more dangerous than lifta droppa, frakassor or shootaz. But it make more disuasive effects against my opponent ^^.
