With NetEpic Gold around the corner, I have been thinking about my beloved Tau a bit but due to recent illness I might have missed the boat. My experience with playing them is that their Markerlights are not particularly useful. They play a BIG role for the Tau in 40K and most players will find that a 40K Tau army without Markerlights isn’t very effective at all. I’ve given this alot of thought and propose the following changes to the Markerlight and Guided Missile rules for NetEpic: Special Ability: Markerlights/Networked Markerlights These are laser-guidance systems that “light up†|

Hi! Juffo, the Tau book is near the end of the order of the books to do. Since you have playtesting under your belt, I'm more than happy to get you the Tau word document to update what you feel necessary. You would just need to do this within a couple of weeks time. Let me know what you'd like to do. Primarch |

I do. Not sure I agree on a couple of points, particularly the 1+ to hit and the self designation by the larger units. For the self designating 100cm marker lights on the superheavies this just basically makes Tracer/Seeker Missiles automatically a 3+ to hit which is a pretty big jump in capability. Why bother with the Markerlight mechanic at all in that situation? It is a nice fluffy mechanic though....Pathfinders sneaking around painting laser dots on peoples heads. How about the idea of a longer range, more accurate designator for existing units with the Markerlight ability. Perhaps a playtest using 3+ @ 75cm would be useful? |

I have to admit that I forgot about the markerlights, in my tau battles, nearly at all! I lighted up 2 targets in 3 battles due to mostly being out of range. Quote: They play a BIG role for the Tau in 40K and most players will find that a 40K Tau army without Markerlights isn’t very effective at all. That happens often, that unit, that can win a 40K game, is just support in Epic Thats why I love Epic Quote: Guided Missiles are now completely reliant on Markerlights. This is to hard if you want to shoot at more than one target with one model you need a whole detachment e.g. pathfinders to light it up Quote: The effect of Markerlights does not last the entire turn anymore. this sounds usefull, so you have to relight it up after a hit Maybe just increase the range (75cm) for all vehicle based markerlights and let them hit on a +4 whatever the target is in cover or not + Quote: The effect of Markerlights does not last the entire turn anymore. best regards |
