Well, you will probably be able to get away with surprise, at least once... not sure you can pull the same stunt on the same player after the first game... he should change his choices to tackle your new army.

You may find you have to work a bit harder to win too. You'll be lacking on activations and tactical options... maybe even in just the amount of table you can effect due to the limit in numbers too. Still, you may be able to make it work if you keep these limitations in mind and try to play to your armies strengths... if your opponent will let you. The best way to find out is to give it a try... it either will... or wont. The fun is finding out.

What are you guys using as Fire Control Centers?

And here is the updated the AMTL army:
*edit* Because I botched the price of the Warlord with 100 I had to revise the army, nevertheless I managed to insert 2 Quake Cannons into the army which was sorely needed to demolish buildings with!
(if I go with army 1 I have enough points to outfit the suppression warlord titan with 2 Quake Cannons)
the MRL in wide dispersial mode + Quake Cannons should have a reasonable success of making it bleedingly irritating to all/any infantry...

2200 Warlord Titan Battle Group
250* Warhound Titan Scout Squadron
150 2x Turbo-Laser Destructor
 50 2x Chainfists

600 Imperial Knight Lancer Household
 50* Forward Observer

600 Imperial Knight Paladin Household
 50* Forward Observer
== 3950p

Or

2200 Warlord Titan Battle Group
250* Warhound Titan Scout Squadron
150 2x Turbo-Laser Destructor
 50 2x Chainfists

600 Imperial Knight Lancer Household
750* Warlord Titan

== 4000p

-= Warlord Titan Battle Group =-
500 Warlord (Battlefield Suppression) 750p
 50 Multiple Rocket Launcher
 50 Multiple Rocket Launcher
 50 Multiple Rocket Launcher
 85 Quake Cannon
 15 Close Combat Head

500 Warlord (Preatorian Killer) 725p
 75 Fire Control Center
100 Plasma Cannon
 25 Chainfist
 25 Wrecker

500 Warlord (Preatorian Killer) 725p
 75 Fire Control Center
100 Plasma Cannon
 25 Chainfist
25 Chainfist (only have 1 wrecker arm =/)

-= 4th Warlord Titan =-
500 Warlord (Battlefield Demolition) 750p
 50 Multiple Rocket Launcher
 50 Multiple Rocket Launcher
 50 Multiple Rocket Launcher
 85 Quake Cannon
 15 Close Combat Head

Nice loadout on the titans..should do pretty well.  I would suggest you change the FCC for a Carapace Landing Pad and add a Deathstrike on the Battlefield Suppression version for serious barrage power.

I luckily had a supply of the real FCCs, but you could scratch one easily enough....small cylinder with some hatches, viewports and aerials would work.

superbad Titan, I think I actually have that head, but I just think its to much bother with a weapon that has a 30 degree fire.. thats like the teardrops or something, just to hard to use IMHO, if it hade been 90 degree I might have used it =)

on to other stuff, I looked at my titan weaponsprues and realised I have tons of chainfists! might have enough to outfit 2 warhound titans with dual chainfists.. now is it worth it? what kind of opponents can the warhound have a good shot at taking out?

350 for 2 seems a steal in some ways, with the 25cm move and hard2hit on charge means they can hunt praetorians and such like crazy especially with the "new" titan point defence and titan outnumbering rules so they need not be scared of most elite infantry

Dang, and I just realised that I need to add a Quake Cannon on the suppression Titans so I can root out infantry from buildings, dammit, where will I get those points from? hrm..

Dang x2, I realise I have underpriced my Warlords 100pts!

:)) Welcome Malleus, to the Epic world of hurt, where points are a royal pain in the rear.

EDIT: Those Knights look prety cool. You could add 40K/WH bits to them if you want them to look more Paladin, Lancer like, etc.
http://www.bitzbox.co.uk/

Double Chain Fists are too worth it, IMO... I've had them used against me in the past, before the Titan Weapons had points values and they can take down some big stuff... Especially with Knights adding to the D6 pot for multiple opponents... They also gain an extra -1 to be hit so Snap Firing at them is at -2 to hit... WOT!.. They work out cheaper than Subjugators (who admittedly have a better minus to be hit and some cool shooty weapons...) but the Subjugators, despite their HUGE claws only get a 3D6+Caf... and a +2 Damage roll.

Deathstrike Cannon Titan Head... yeah, 90 degree fire arc would be better... and bring it into line with things like the Leviathan's Doomsday Cannon.
...I suppose the 75 points, -1 Armour location save and minus half the Titans movement just wasn't enough payment for a 200cm, Indirect Artillery, 2+ to hit, 6cm template with a -2TSM...

Question... if the Deathstrike Canon gets hit and fails it's save... does it make a weapon location roll or a head roll? Is there, in effect no longer a bridge to hit?

90 degrees would be super, but to be honest 30 is still pretty decent.  I generally point Mr Angry at the biggest cluster of buildings on the opponents side and the Deathstrike plinks away at them if there's nothing else interesting in its' arc.  Another option is have it at one flank and point it diagonally across the board.  The arc covers a surprising amount of the enemy deployment zone :)

Yup, that's how we play the Deathstrike...no more bridge.  People generally shoot the reactor on a Warlord anyway  :upside:

A Fire Control Center. I was lucky enough to buy one brand new in the late '80's/early '90's.

I don't have a pic of it, but here's a link to Stuff of Legends. The Fire Control Tower is on the right, near the top, below the round Carapace Landing Pad.

Is/was there any difference between a Fire Control Tower and a Fire Control Platform?.. I think I have both.

Yes. The Fire Control Platform looks a lot like the round Carapace Landing Pad.

Sorry DS, I was unclear. I mean stats wise... did it do the same thing or had there originally been different rules>

Yes, there was a difference in the rules. The Fire Control tower added a bonus (+1 I think) to the "to hit" rolls, while the Carapace Landing Pad allowed the Titan to fire barrage weapons not in Line of Sight without having to roll twice for deviation.

Nah, different model, same effect.  Platform seems to have been relatively rare...I've never seen one in the flesh, but I've seen toooo many towers
