Does anyone have any ideas about how to organize a battle with three sides? How do we calculate break points? Idea - when a detachment is broken the other 2 players share the points no matter who broke the detachment. Other idea - the player thay makes the killing shot against the mob that breaks the card gets the full points. Other idea - if a mob has 4 units and is worth 4 points then you get 1 point/mob killed. Grateful for insights. //P-man |

I have never played NetEpic but having played EA I found keeping three people engaged to be difficult. Two always tend to beat each other over the heads while one sits back. There are ways you can keep players engaged, from King-of-the-Hill games to points assigned for contesting objectives / holding objectives each turn. My guess is you'll have to deviate significantly from the existing rules to have a true 3-way game. You could always do a 2vs1 game, however, splitting one side's points/formations down the middle or even just having a lopsided game to see how long one side can hold out. Try giving the one player certain advantages over the 2 players (better position, extra re-roll, whatever). |

The general idea is to have IG in the middle of a ping-pong table with defences and other nasties. From the short ends of the table 2 other players set up at each side having about 80-100 cm to the middle of the table. Marines in Round 1or2 coming in from the long side of the table... |-----------------------------------| |                         | |                         | | Eldar                     | |                         | |                         | |             IG        Chaos | |                         | |                         | |                         | |                         | |----------------------------------| Sofar we are discussing of having 6K armies for the eldar and chaos with 2K reinforcements coming in round 1 & 2 IG will be heavily dug-in.. But how big does their army has to be to not be totally crushed at once. |

We've played double VPs needed to win, double VPs for objectives and both opponents get the points for breaking a unit, on a weird hexagon we marked on the floor with coins, and it worked really well. Everybody needs to split their forces since if you beat down on somebody the third player will rack up easy points from both of you and win. It still unfairly rewards cautious play though - not exactly proof but the winner had a bunch of Stormblades hidden until turn three. Maybe experiment with escalating VPs for objectives to encourage decisive play at the beginning, which is what I'll suggest at my next three-player game? |

Yeah, 3-way battles are difficult to make fair. We'd generally do a 2 vs. 1 I think. The entrenched PDF mid table would be lots of fun though and is a neat idea. Let us know if you make something work! |
