Now when you only fire one detachment at a time and you according to the rules can -

"These cannons can also fire at another Fire Prism to boost its power. Roll a 3+ to hit the other Fire Prism, and a hit indicates the shot has been successfully transferred."

Then the enemy can just shoot at the one that has energy stored. This would mean that the Fire prisms become quite sucky.

Lets say that you have 5 prisms. You have to activate 4 sepate times to fire off the last one. Its quite likely that the last one/the one that sees anything get blown to bits.

Not very likely to work eyy?

Perhaps its just better to buy them/use them as ordinary tanks and not shoot at the butt of each other. They are actually quite good and cheap... What do you folks think?

Not to mention if you store successfully some energy and then you miss with the big boosted laser, it's crappy :)
I think that for 50 points, it's a good tank used alone.
Maybe you can use the concentration thing when you got nothing to shoot at.

Yeah, that's pretty much it.  You do see occasional attempts at power transfers when there's nothing else to go for.

Please note the rule also says "A Fire Prism that is hit in this way can immediately fire, even during First Fire and the cannon is on Advance Orders. ", so only Snap Fire at the boosted Prism is a problem.

Does anyone else think that it should be easier to hit another Prism rather than the enemy? 2+ would make it a bit more useful, rather than just characterful as it is now. Or would it be an unnecessary complication?

I dont know. Its just even more crappy now when you cant shoot more than one unit at a time.

I hope we can do something about this unit cause now its really hard to actually use them the way its intended.

Perhaps hit a friend at 2+ and an option to buy several in a detatchment... Humm, perhaps didnt work. But what is killing this unit is that enemies can shoot them when they have stored power. This was not intended in the good old days...

Perhaps a stored shot can be more powerful, with more - on the save and even more penetrating.. That would be something...

Who can come up with anything better than today?

...when you cant shoot more than one unit at a time.

I think you're reading the rule a little off.  You can fire 1 prism at another, then immediately fire the 2nd (boosted) prism.

If you have 3 in a unit you'd just fire them all separately at the same target, and ignore the special rule.  If you see the special rule as simply a minor advantage (and a bit of flair) then the unit is fine, and well priced.

2+ might also be too reliable, it's a question of balancing the risk of shooting twice vs the advantage of holding the assisting units out of enemy range (might get frustrating for opponents; eldar skimmers being awkward to hit already).  [Sorry I have a habit of countering my own arguments  ]

Hi!

Try them out and let me know. I thought that with the modifications they were pretty good.

The rules are as they always were.  As a single 50 point filler unit they are neat.....don't get too carried away with their special rule.
