Hi All, I've seen a couple of "Space Skaven" lists for SM2/NetEpic before. I was wondering if developing a Hrud list "open workshop" style might not be a bad idea to keep discussions going. Also a neat way to find proxy uses for all the nice new 6mm stuff coming out. One neat link I found as inspiration was: Hrud 40K army diary. So, I was thinking to start - Basic troop type. Pretty much as a standard Infantry type (no save, 0 CAF, 50cm 5+ 0TSM) with Stealth and/or Infiltrate. Couple of good model choices - GZG Kravk (for the Predator look) or DRM Human Scouts/Kraytonian Ketzali (if you prefer the Jawa look). |

Ok, so from the scant references available the Hrud appear to be part Space Skaven, part Jawa, part Predator. ?They are also small, and their basic weapon (fusil) is a single shot, unlimited ammo pistol. ?A longer "sniper rifle" also appears. ?As a general principle give all Hrud infantry Stealth, and maybe a special ability similar to Nurgles "Plague Touch" except perhaps a little less virulent. Contagion - Physical contact or close proximity to Hrud is inimicable to most sentients' health. ?It has not been ascertained whether this is some form of biological weapon, or just a naturally occuring phenomenon, but regardless, the Hrud are carriers to some of the most virulent pathogens known to man. ?If a Hrud unit is engaged in Close Combat against units with no armour save, roll a die at the beginning of the phase. ?On a 5+ the enemy dies at the end of the Close Combat phase regardless of the Close Combat result. Basic troop type. ?Maybe close to a Hive Ganger, but lower CAF and slightly higher range: Hrud ?10cm - 0 ?35cm 1 5+ 0 ?Stealth, Contagion And a sniper type Hrud Fusilier ?10cm - 0 75cm 1 5+ 0 Stealth, Contagion Do we give them all Deep Strike to respresent their ability to "phase in" or pop up from tunnels? I figure we also give them some cav to use those nice EW Bounty Hunters too. Maybe some Tarellian allies to provide an opportunity to use those neat Lizard/centaur dudes (Gurdan ?). |

Hrud have been redefined by GW as insectoids. |

Ooh....when did that happen? Edit: Ok, I found this in Wikipeadia: In Xenology, they are portrayed as slimy insectiods that are vaguely similar to the xenomorph in the movie Alien. However, it should be noted that this portrayal is clearly marked as 'speculative', and the images of the Hrud dissection do not include any portrayal of the creature's skin, which rapidly decayed after the subject's death. So I think we can happily ignore any thought that they are bugs ![]() |

I like them to be more skaven-like. Much better. |

(zap123 @ Nov. 02 2007,00:30) QUOTE Ok, so from the scant references available the Hrud appear to be part Space Skaven, part Jawa, part Predator. Aren't the Predators already represented by the Kroots ? |

Kroot do look like undernourished Predators to be sure. I guess the Predator like stuff comes from the "hard to see/appearing from nowhere" fluff, rather than a direct resemblance. |
