hi folks, i want to introduce/suggest a optional rule for a splendiferous multiplayer-modus. It is the modus we always play our battles. try it and you will love it. we have 7 players and 7 races (imperial knights and titan legion do not count as a single army). we always play 3 races against 4 races example: marines+chaos+eldar vs. squats+guards+tyranids+orks we do not care about the backgrounds given from gw. you know, our elder player likes our chaos player, so there is no hateful background. the combination of the two sides is randomly battle by battle. so there is no need for a single army, such as elder, to get allies at all, because they could allied with marines and squats due to the multiplayer modus. and therefore we made a new allies rule to get/keep this variety! please look at the attached picture to see how we play our game! |

No offence meant, but I really don't want to see this kind of thing introduced even as an optional rule. It leads to too many problems with those people who like to take any rule (even optional ones) and bend it as far as possible to win at all costs. These rules in particular break the balance built into each list to make it unique and different to play vs the other forces. This kind of thing needs to remain in the realm of house rules and not in any rulebook, optional or otherwise. One thing that we possibly do need in NetEpic is a "Hobby Codex". With this kind of book we can put in terrain building tutorials (as Epic-scale terrain has its own unique techniques), painting schemes, tactical tips and campaign ideas (sort of like the old Space Marine Battles Book). The addition of your multi-player modus rules into this kind of codex is ideal as it gives players ideas on how to be creative with NetEpic games without introducing it as "rules" (even if only optional). I like the fact that your group is being creative with the NetEpic rules and playing what is fun for you. Its good to see people are being creative and having fun. |

(Juffo-Wup @ Aug. 09 2007,12:48) QUOTE you are right, i think our army-varient could be good placed in a kind of "hobby codex". especially if you have a great group of players and all want to meet and play together and no one wants to pass on playing his loved own army...then you will have a lot of fun playing 12.000 points each side and transporting some gargoyles with your thunderhawks! ![]() |

I think some rules for multiplayer games would be great. Apart from the old 2 vs. 2, or in one 20 000 a side battle I remember 4 vs. 4 (what a silly idea!) we've always steered clear of the concept. It is kinda hard to visualise a set piece battle where a 3rd force antagonistic to both the others lobs up for a fight too....and I would be at a loss to how to even setup a 6' x 4' board to accomodate a 3 sided battle so that it would be fair to all. |

(zap123 @ Aug. 10 2007,13:16) QUOTE we play on a 240 cm x 110 cm table...many room for many units... ...you know the great advantage of our game is, that you can not have the situation, that both sides have a tempest or a shadowsword. every single army can only take units of his own. this give us a max. variety! also you can assume that there are 7 sinlgle armies which meet accidentally to get an importand object or something like that and because you are stronger in a group they say:" hey, why not fight together with this bug for this battle, we get or object ad then we destroy this deformed bugs!" but after one side won, we stop...so the fight could go on in our minds... great background, right! ![]() |
